What an “E” ticket ride our world has embarked upon first with a pandemic about to turn world disaster, and then the law enforcement getting caught murdering black people.
The Long Beach Police Department spends over $12 million per year on settlements and payouts on verdicts related to police misconduct, officer-involved shootings, police use of force and in-custody deaths.
I would love to have lunch with the officer who wrote the [6/19/20] article. I have experienced LBPD acting as a gang. I once lived in an area where it was normal to be afraid of the gangs and the police. It’s been almost 15 years and some of those bad police officers are now locked up.

All lives matter, despite what BLM and its followers would have you believe. Their message is that all policemen are racists and that we, as a nation, are stuck in the same mindset prior to the civil rights movement. That is not true.

Cops are not cheap. So, let’s do the math. The city gets fivecops for $1 million a year. So, it’s about $200K a cop. That is to fully pay salary, benefits and a loaded SUV. If Long Beach tried to add 50 new cops, the price would be $10 million more in the budget.
The irresponsible lack of decisiveness by Mayor Garcia and LBPD Chief Luna are directly responsible for many of Long Beach businesses being looted and destroyed.
