Trailblazing Women of Country

The Carpenter Performing Arts Center, located on the campus of California State University, Long Beach, is the heart of country music on Sunday, March 17 at 2 p.m. as the Center welcomes Trailblazing Women of Country: A Tribute to Patsy, Loretta, and Dolly. This heartfelt afternoon concert honors the contributions of Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, and Dolly Parton to country music through a celebration of their beloved songs, their unmistakably female perspectives, and the achievements that have made them trailblazers for generations of female artists.

Featuring rising stars of country music Miko Marks and Kristina Train, along with a stellar all-female band, the afternoon concert includes the hits that propelled Cline, Lynn, and Parton to the top of the charts, from Cline’s “Walkin’ After Midnight” to Lynn’s “Don’t Come Home A-Drinkin’ with Lovin’ On Your Mind” to Parton’s rousing anthem “9-to-5.” Marks and Train explore these trailblazers’ emotive storytelling through the songs that continue to inspire and resonate with generations of fans.
