December 17

Redondo Avenue and Spring Street area:, At approximately 8 a.m. the LBPD says a “road rage” incident escalated into a vehicle-to-vehicle shooting when an unknown suspect shot at a male driver. The gunfire hit the victim’s vehicle, didn’t hit the victim but left him injured by glass fragments, treated on scene by LBFD.  LBPD describes the suspect vehicle as a dark colored pick up truck.

December 16

1200 block Redondo Avenue: 7 p.m. hour, fire next to a church. Area streets closed until LBFD knockdown.

December 13

22 Freeway at San Gabriel River: In the 6 a.m. hour, a car goes over the side of the 22 freeway and lands in San Gabriel River channel. LBFD says a patient self-extricated and was transported to a local trauma hospital. CHP is investigating.

December 12

PCH/Daisy: 11:15 p.m. A man is shot/wounded, says he was standing on sidewalk when three men approached him, shot at him and fled.

Anaheim/Chestnut: A man is shot/wounded at 7:35 p.m.

December 11

Drake Park: At approximately 9:30 p.m., officers responded to a shots fired call and located a man lying on a walkway leading up to a residence in the 900 block of Loma Vista Drive suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper torso. The victim was identified as Miguel Reyes, 21, a resident of Long Beach, who succumbed to his injures at a local hospital on Dec. 12.

Based on the preliminary investigation, the victim was with a female adult and were getting items out of their vehicle when they were confronted by a group of suspects who began shooting at them. The female victim was not injured. The motive for the shooting is believed to be gang related. The suspects are described as male adults and fled the scene on foot.

7th Street at Campus Drive: In the 7 p.m. hour a major accident includes overturned vehicle with LBFD extrications. LBPD closes eastbound 7th St from Bellflower to 22 Fwy. LBPD says officers responded to 7th St./Margo Avenue and through their preliminary investigation, detectives determined the male adult driver lost control of his vehicle and struck the raised concrete K-rail.  Both the 36-year-old male adult driver and the 39-year-old female adult front passenger sustained injuries and were transported to local hospitals by Long Beach Fire in critical but stable conditions. There were two children (10-year-old and 6-month-old males) in the vehicle at the time of the collision; neither sustained any injuries. The driver of the vehicle is believed to have been impaired at the time of the collision. The investigation is ongoing.

December 10

PCH near Obispo Avenue: 10:55 p.m.: Man is shot/wounded, says he was driving in the area when some person(s) fired from a vehicle, striking him and his vehicle.

1300 block Ohio Avenue: At about 11:50 p.m., a man returning home from work and parking his car in the 1300 block of Ohio Ave. says someone shot at and wounded him.

December 4

Anaheim/Magnolia: An adult female is fatally shot and a female juvenile (unrelated) is shot/wounded, by gunfire from an argument involving two groups of men and woman at a mobile food truck. LBPD says the murder victim, Alejandra Martinez, 36, of Long Beach “Has no gang affiliation and is believed to be an unintended target of the suspect.”
