Munch and Movie
Soroptimist International of Long Beach (SILB) offers lunch and a private showing of “I Love You to Death,” Saturday, Jan. 21, 12:30 p.m. at the Art Theatre of Long Beach. Tickets are $30 each. 100 percent of the net proceeds of this fun-filled event benefits Meals on Wheels of Long Beach, which was founded by SILB in 1971. This stranger-than-fiction 1990s American black comedy features an all-star cast, Kevin Kline, Tracey Ullman, Joan Plowright, River Phoenix, William Hurt, and Keanu Reeves.
Before viewing the film, each movie-goer will enjoy a sampling of pizzas provided by Flippin’ Pizza, K Pasta and Ecco’s Pizza and dessert. A Q&A follows the film with actor/writer/producer Joe Sabatino. There will be door prizes, a raffle, and beer and wine available.

Knabe on Straight Talk
Former LA County Supervisor Don Knabe will be the guest on the next edition of Straight Talk. He joins host Art Levine to reflect upon his 35 years of public service, including time as Cerritos City Councilman, Mayor of Cerritos, and 20 years as Los Angeles County Supervisor for the 4th District. He shares his views of some of his most significant accomplishments, including the safe surrender program and preventing Rancho Los Amigos Rehabilitation Center from closure.
Don credits much of his success to the continued support of his wife Julie. He also discusses his plans for the future.
