1000 block of Park Avenue. At 9:50 p.m., police responded to a possible domestic violence call and discovered the body of Greta Kurian, 22, and her husband 25-year-old Kyle Kurian, who both sustained gunshot wounds to their upper bodies. Kyle Kurian, whom the South Gate Police Department confirmed was a recent hire for that agency, died early Tuesday morning after being taken to a hospital. Police are investigating the deaths as a possible murder suicide. A weapon was found at the scene. Also at the scene were daughters, 3-year-old Kaylee and 1-year-old Lilah, whom police immediately removed and placed in the care of the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services.

Eastbound Seventh St. at Studebaker. At 2 p.m., came reports of a driver slumped over the steering wheel. Tiredness or worse to be determined at this busy stretch of semi-freeway.

Southbound Palo Verde at Studebaker. At 2:15 p.m. came reports of a three-car wreck at this confusing maze of southbound streets

Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. parking lot at the Long Beach Airport As workers were performing maintenance tasks on a backup generator, about 650 gallons of backup diesel spilled from the equipment at 12:15 p.m. Long Beach Fire Ocean Blue Environmental Services responded to the spill to make the lot safe for all who choose to park there. No Thanksgiving flights were delayed by spill or by the cleanup.

Northbound 605 Freeway, south of Carson St. At 1:10 a.m., two cars collided in or near the HOV lane, causing the adult driver of one of the cars to be ejected from the vehicle and die as a result. Another adult had to be extricated by the Jaws of Life and was taken to a local trauma center, while a third adult patient was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Northbound 605 Freeway, south of Carson St. At about the same time, a second accident occurred a quarter mile north of the first, which apparently was limited to a single car, which collided with the center divider. When the adult driver exited the car, that driver was struck by another vehicle and died. There is no word on that status of the striking automobile, the gender of the victims or whether possible intoxication was involved. The California Highway Patrol is investigating both incidents.

200 block of E. Del Amo Blvd. Three men entered a home at 3:41 p.m. and demanded money. Two victims in the home were tied up, a third person was assaulted, then managed to jump out of a second-story window and call police. That victim was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. As it might have involved a hostage situation, “the S.W.A.T. Team was activated,” said police. “Officers quickly surrounded the residence and subsequently took the suspects into custody, without incident.” They were named by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office, which filed charges, as Dominick Williams, 23, of Hollywood; Brook Shaefron Auguste, 25, of Hollywood and Richard Aaron Copeland, 24, of Claremont. All three were charged with three counts of home invasion robbery and three counts of using a deadly or dangerous weapon in the commission of a felony.

1500 block of Studebaker Rd. At 4 p.m., a single vehicle was destroyed as a result of crashing into a tree at the side of the road. Jaws of Life had to be used to extricate two adults from the wreckage, both of whom were in critical condition and were taken to a local trauma center.

1600 block of West Pacific Coast Hwy. At 10:06 p.m. officers were dispatched to the a possible shooting, but couldn’t locate a victim or suspect. Then a man arrived at a hospital with a gunshot injury which appeared to be non-life-threatening, thus solving the mystery, or maybe not.

10th St. and Bennett Ave. A series of events that resulted in a mystery death began when Francisco Parra-Garcia, 62, of Long Beach was spotted rummaging through his wife’s vehicle at the 300 block of Wilson Street in Costa Mesa shortly before 8:30 a.m. When Parra-Garcia was confronted by his wife, 60, an argument ensued. Parra-Garcia pulled a small-caliber handgun, said Costa Mesa police. She doused him with a can of pepper spray. “Parra-Garcia attempted to fire the handgun, but, the weapon did not discharge,” police said. Parra-Garcia fled before officers arrived. Costa Mesa police asked Long Beach police to search for Parra-Garcia or his white 1998 Mitsubishi Montero. At 12:30 p.m. he was located slumped over in the back passenger seat and was pronounced dead at the scene. The handgun was not found and it was determined that Parra-Garcia was not shot, but the cause of death remains unknown.
