January 28

3200 block of E. 7th St. (just west of Redondo Ave.) at 5:25 a.m., an adult male was shot/woounded and transported to a hospital in critical condition.

January 22

1500 block of Elm Avenue: At approximately 2:40 p.m., LBPD officers responded to a reported shooting and located a male adult victim laying in the alley suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper torso. Officers rendered medical aid until the arrival of the Long Beach Fire Department. Fire Department personnel also rendered aid, but later determined the victim, Egary Baide, 25, of Long Beach, deceased at the scene. The motive for the shooting has not been determined.

January 21

Area Monlaco/Heather: Attempted catalytic converter theft. About 6:30 a.m., victim receives text from neighbor that someone was trying to steal victim vehicle’s catalytic converter.  Suspects managed to saw off converter but weren’t able to take it with them.  Suspect vehicle (with three occupants) was white Honda Accord. First number of license was a “7.”

January 20

Area Bellflower/Conant: Catalytic converter theft.  About 4:20 a.m. suspects did two drive-bys, then sawed converter off 2007 Toyota Prius.

January. 17

4900 block Los Coyotes Diagonal: LBPD Watch Commander Brandon Deis says officers found three parked, unoccupied vehicles struck by gunfire and bullet strike marks to the exterior of two residences. Occupants of the residences weren’t injured. This was Long Beach’s 24th shooting crime scene since Jan. 1. As of Jan. 25, Long Beach has now had at least 32 shootings (including two homicides, persons hit and vehicle/buildings struck, most of them in Council Districts 6, 8 and 9.)  

January 12

Central/West Long Beach: Suspect sought in at least eight sexual batteries described as a male Hispanic, 17- 20 years-old, thin build, wearing a face covering, black hoodie with white stripes, and black Vans tennis shoes in several incidents. All the victims were walking alone or with other females and are female Hispanics. Locations: Locust/Willard; 25th St./Earl Ave.; 20th St./Pasadena Ave.; Hill/Locust; 100 block Burnett St.; Pine Ave.; Burnett St.; Nevada St./Earl Ave.

January 5

Belmont Shore Area Fires: LBFD Arson Investigators arrested Christopher Allen Phillips, 30, in connection with a series of four fires during the evening of Dec. 31, and early morning hours of Jan. 1. Video camera footage played a significant role in the arrest. Phillips was charged with five counts of arson and one count of attempted murder. Anyone who may have witnessed these actions or has additional video footage that may assist with the ongoing investigation is urged to call the Long Beach Fire Department Arson Hotline at (562) 570-2582.
