Recreation Park: Rec Park-adjacent residents saw/heard midnight hour police activity  after roughly a dozen vehicles had their windows shattered in the area of 6th St/Roycroft Ave. and a man said he was robbed at gunpoint in the 4700 block of E. 7th St. LBPD says the same suspect was allegedly involved in all of this. They found him in the area of 7th St./Park Ave., didn’t find a firearm and believe the suspect may have had a BB gun. Officers arrested Jacob Poole, 26, of Long Beach and booked him on suspcion of vandalism, second degree robbery, assault with a firearm, auto burglary, possession of known stolen property and battery on a police officer. LASD’s inmate locator indicates LBPD previoualy arrested Poole in April 2020 on at least one felony charge (not specified online) and in June 2020 he was released on probation.

February 22

Long Beach Blvd/Del Amo: At about 6:50 p.m., traffic collision involved a motorcycle and a truck. A 1997 Chevy S10 truck driven by a 29-year-old Long Beach man was traveling eastbound on Del Amo made a left turn into a parking lot. While making the turn, he struck a 2017 Honda Motorcycle driven by a 22-year-old Compton man as he rode westbound on Del Amo. The driver of the Chevy remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Neither impaired nor distracted driving is believed to have been a factor in the collision. The motorcyclist died at a nearby hospital.

February 21

100 block Plymouth St.: At about 1:55 a.m., casings found and unoccupied vehicles struck by gunfire; no persons found hit.

5500 block of Paramount Blvd.: About 2:30 a.m. two men walking in the area are hit by gunfire comming from an unknown SUV. An unknown male suspect got out of the vehicle, fired shots at them and fled the area in the vehicle. LBFD transported the victims to hospitals with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. LBPD says it believes the motive is gang related.

February 19

23rd. St./Pasadena Ave.: Shooting victim says he was shot/wounded while walking in the area.

Orange/South: A man was shot/wounded in the neighborhood east of Orange Ave. and just north of South St.

February 16

Stearns/McNab: About 6:20 p.m. officers arrived and found a male pedestrian struck by a motorcycle driven by a 23-year-old Long Beach resident. Police say the motorcyclist was traveling “at a high rate of speed westbound on Stearns” when he struck Kent Carlsen, 76, a Long Beach resident, who was crossing Stearns in an unmarked crosswalk. Carlsen died of his injuries at a local hospital. The motorcyclist remained on scene and LBPD says alcohol, drugs and distracted driving aren’t believed to have been factors in the collision.

February 15

LB Blvd./32nd St.: About 5:35 a.m., officers arrived and found a man struck by a vehicle. LBFD determined the pedestrian, Jameon Davis, 26, died at the scene. LBPD says its preliminary investigation indicates a 2004 Nissan 350Z, driven by a 28-year-old Long Beach man, was traveling northbound on Long Beach Boulevard when it struck Davis who was standing in the roadway, throwing him into the southbound lanes of Long Beach Blvd., where a 2018 Nissan Sentra, driven by a 28-year old Los Angeles woman, was traveling southbound on Long Beach Boulevard and struck Davis, who was lying in the roadway. The Nissan Sentra immediately pulled over and contacted police. LBPD says both drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Alcohol, drugs and distracted driving aren’t believed to have been factors in the collision. Both drivers were released from the scene, pending further investigation.
