405 Freeway off-ramp at Orange Ave. At 2:30 p.m., a brush fire spread through chain link fencing onto a school bus yard, minimum three yellow vehicles suffered scorching, injuries not to bus employees. A helpful Nextdoor poster contributed “Square tires on them or what!? Why the hell weren’t those busses moved out of the path!”

Thursday, April 16

6700 block of Cherry Ave. At 6 p.m., two persons argued near a homeless encampment ending in a stabbing. The victim with stab wounds to the upper body died at the hospital.

Friday, April 17

1000 block of Myrtle Ave. At 7:15 p.m., a 31-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his lower extremities was transported to the hospital. At the scene, police found a car and a building evidencing gunfire strikes, no other injuries. Police said the victim was in front of the residence when a shooter with possible gang-related motives in a dark-colored SUV fired at him, then fled westbound. The victim is expected to survive.

Pacific Coast Hwy. and Golden Ave. At 8:30 p.m., a male approached a 25-year-old man on the bike path, engaged him in a brief conversation, when the victim walked away, stabbed him. The victim is expected to survive.

Saturday, April 17

200 block of Pine Ave. At 1 a.m. police went to a hospital to chat up a 27-year-old male with lower body stab wounds. Labeled “uncooperative,” he divulged walking with a 23-year-old woman, physically altercated with a group of human beings, thus the stabbing.

Granada Beach parking lot. About 400 bikers assembled at this gathering point, preparing to get their spokes spinning at 6:45 p.m. for parts of town unknown.

Junipero Beach parking lot. A driver was drinking alcohol, breaking empties and finally leaving the scene of his one-person party at 6:55 p.m.

4300 block of Anaheim St. At 7:15 p.m., about 400 young, mostly male bicyclists arrived at Tommy’s, Little Caesars and 7-Eleven to park and mingle. According to a spokesbiker, the meet-up was from an Instagram posting. As a police SUV watched the action, Tommy’s drive-thru, foodstuffs and patio area were taken over by two-wheelers and their riders.

Monday, April 19

Hermosa Ave. at Florida St. Lots of non-compliance from a car pulled over by the police at 9:15 a.m. Meanwhile, the non-complier called his own 911 to speak with a sergeant.

Southbound 405 Fwy. at northbound 710 Freeway. At 2:25 p.m., an adult male homeless encampment resident was unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso. Police officers performed life-saving measures; Long Beach Fire Department determined the victim deceased, unknown suspect gonzo.

Wednesday, April 21

4144 Mendez St. At 4:45 p.m., a young man dashed from his very own freshly committed burglary to an apartment unit, preferable to hanging about.

Thursday, April 22

Orange Ave. and Artesia Blvd. At 10:30 a.m., city property, known to some as a public works van was pilfered with keys still inside. Will free-lance public works result?

Long Beach Blvd. and San Antonio Dr. At 4:15 p.m., a bus passenger refused to disembark, then attempted to start the bus without the proper training regimen. Arrested within minutes.

Friday, April 23

L.A. River. At 9 a.m., near Anaheim Street, a body emerged, foul play not suspected, though an autopsy might reveal all, including unspecified gender.

Anaheim St. and 710 Fwy. At 5:50 p.m., a motorist noted of “anti-Covid” signage on pillars under Anaheim Street, which motorist reported to police.

Saturday, April 24

Aquarium Way. At 3:20 p.m., a group of young teens pushed around the owner of a Pacific blue I-phone, thus making it their own before forming into two separate groups.

Tenth St. and Termino Ave. At 9:25 p.m., police stopped a speeding car. Inside, a multiple upper and lower torso gunshot victim who wasn’t helpful about details, vague about where…Tenth. Paramedics summoned, critical condition. Not clear if driver won a speeding ticket.

Sunday, April 25

1900 block of St. Louis Ave. At 5 p.m., a walking shooter fled after wounding a male who was transported by L.A. County Fire in critical condition.

Monday, April 26

Second St. and The Toledo. Departing the shore at 1:50 a.m., Norwalk’s own Kyle Lee Ramirez crashed-out a 20-foot-long hole in a bridge railing, later replaced by the combo of a sawhorse, orange cones and yellow police tape over a deep waterway. Lightly injured, Ramirez remained in Long Beach custody on suspicion driving under the influence of alcohol, bail: $15,000, less than proposed fence repair.

2000 block of W. Wardlow Rd. At 7:45 a.m., 46-year-old Arlene Teofilo of Long Beach was visiting a friend who dialed 9-1-1 and reported injuries to her upper torso. Teofilo later died in the hospital.

1100 Block of Pier F, Long Beach Harbor. At 9:55 a.m., police removed a decomposing body with an upper torso injury floating near the water’s edge.
