Thursday, June 10

3000 block of Bellflower Blvd. After a fight at 24-Hour Fitness, at 7 p.m., police searched a car outside Tracy’s Bar and Grill. Officers seized two firearms and arrested David Ros, 35 and Chris Khim, 22, both of Long Beach. Ros was booked on possession of a controlled substance while armed, police said. He was held on zero-dollar bail. Khim was booked on suspicion of possession of an unidentified firearm and was also held on zero-dollar bail.

Saturday, June 12

Mother’s Beach. During a 1:30 p.m. dispute over a parking space, someone reported a male in a green Honda Accord pulled out a weapon to validate his parking permit. Police responded with guns drawn, however, the weapon was imaginary on accounta someone saw the guy reach into his glove box.

2000 block of San Gabriel Ave. At 3:09 p.m., Century Villages security guard, 54-year-old Derrick Smith of Los Angeles died when his guard shack was demolished by a 2012 Chevy Tahoe driving at high rate of speed. The alleged driver of said Tahoe, Quentin Darnell Black, a 31-year-old resident of Moreno Valley ran away, was booked for vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and felony hit-and-run resulting in death or injury. Bail at $100,000.

Sunday, June 13

2130 N. Bellflower Blvd. A skateboarding film crew was documenting a bit of wheeled prowess on the roof of a CVS retail outlet. Probably not insured for such an excellent adventure at 8:20 p.m.

1300 block of Wesley Drive. At 11:08 p.m., approached by two males on foot, a verbal exchange, shots and a 37-year-old male Long Beach resident died. An uninvolved man hit with non-life-threatening injuries. Shooters on-footed westbound toward Orange Avenue.

Tuesday, June 15

Atherton St. at the Traffic Circle. At 2:40 p.m., a woman arguing with a 50ish male in a green SUV threw a glassy possible smoking device his way. His arm a-bleeding, he approached a passerby who’d called 911. “It’s my ex, what should I do?” as the woman steered a red sedan at the man, stopped short. He got into the SUV, away they caravanned. Upon police arrival, witnesses could only say, “they went that-a-way.”

Thursday, June 17

200 block of Mira Mar Ave. Thrown rocks broke a living room window; ten houses and twenty vehicles were damaged at 2 a.m. Mindless mayhem suspected.

Saturday, June 19

1000 block of E. Anaheim St. At 2 p.m., taken to a hospital by unknown associates with a gunshot wound to the upper torso, a 34-year-old Long Beach man died. On June 21, police arrested Ernesto Contreras, a 43-year-old Long Beach resident in his ride at Eighth and Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, bail, $2 million.

Sunday, June 20

2100 Fourth Street. At 2 a.m. a burglar did The Social List, offing electronics, three liquor bottles and $180. At 3:30 a.m., the Berlin Bistro, 400 block of Fourth Street was hit with the clever use of a brick; finally, Michael’s Downtown, 400 block of Third Street lost electronics, $2,800 cash.

3300 block of Hackett Ave. Operating a loud circular saw or woodchipper at 3:30 a.m. was “mighty suspicious” said the Nextdoor poster eliciting a comment about being chipper in the early morning.

Belmont Pier. Garbed hoodie-style, boss of the big bang bureau and three explosive-arian associates got their charge igniting fireworks under the boardwalk at 10:30 p.m. Misdemeanor, so the cops left.

Monday, June 21

200 block of The Promenade North, The Ordinarie was burglarized, as were dining spots at 1800 block of Ximeno Avenue, 100 block of Atlantic Avenue, 1800 block of East 7th Street, two at 2100 block of Broadway and 3700 block of Long Beach Boulevard. On June 23, Corey James Swayney, 20, of Long Beach was booked for commercial burglary and an outstanding warrant; $550,000 bail.

Wednesday, June 23

Broadway and Orange Ave. At 8:07 a.m., police pursued a stolen SUV to Cherry Avenue and Burnett Street in the wilds of Signal Hill. Spike strips helped. John Amos Maxwell Jr., arrested for grand theft auto, driving a stolen vehicle, evading a police officer, driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of unlawful paraphernalia, bail $15,000.

5500 block of Ackerfield Ave. Two men in front of an apartment complex at 10:30 p.m., a dark-colored sedan approached, an occupant shot the men, fled north toward South Street. Kenneth Cornett, 27, of Bell Gardens, died; the other man was wounded. Gang activity suspected.

Thursday, June 24

Obispo Ave. and Broadway. At 9:15 p.m., about 400 cyclists blasting “party music” took to westbound Fourth Street, some diverting to Vista. Deemed “cooperative” by the law, possibly livening up the downtown party zone.

1400 block of Cedar Avenue At 10:42 p.m., Rafael Araiza, 22, of Long Beach was found shot and killed while in his vehicle. Gang motives possible.

Friday, June 25

Ninth St. and Daisy Ave. At 3:04 a.m., a 31-year-old homeless male was shot to death.

Saturday, June 26

Shoreline at Aquarium Way. At 7:30 p.m., shooters in a gray Chevy Impala shot and wounded three males in front of Hooters. An 18-year-old was critically injured, a 23-year-old man and a 13-year-old male received less serious injuries. A man from Chino on the top of the ferris wheel witnessed the shooting and people near the scene, thinking it was a mass shooting, sought refuge behind the wall of the carousel. As there are limited escape routes from the area, the fleeing vehicle was stopped by police, a gun found inside. Jonathan Rodriguez Zamora, 23, of Wilmington was arrested with two males, 15 and 17. Zamora’s bail is $3 million. Police are investigating as a gang-related shooting.
