Lakewood Blvd. and Willow St. A large 11:30 a.m. brush fire behind the Residence Inn brought forth fire department resources as well as CHP to squelch 405 off-ramp damage.

Mezzanine St. and Karen Ave. At 9 p.m., a recklessly speeding 08 Mercedes driver was tracked by the police helicopter as a pursuit was not authorized. At Lemon and 15th St. at 9:10 p.m., the driver got out of the car, began running, saw no police, continued reckless driving. At 9:20 p.m., took northbound 710, CHP not interested, onto the 91, the 605, off at Spring, at 9:30 p.m. Parked at Mezzanine and Karen, driver walked into incoming fog.

500 block of E Pacific Coast Hwy. At 4:40 p.m., two groups of young males got into an altercation with a shooting and two of these males wounded, but not in a life-threatening way. The suspects fled the scene. Pacific Coast Hwy was closed from Pasadena Ave. to Linden Ave.

100 block of Bennett Ave. At 6 p.m., a parking dispute turned into a three-person stabbing with a small knife causing superficial wounds to two men and one woman. Police arrested Gregory Harold Bloom, 32, of Long Beach and booked him for assault with great bodily injury

1900 block of Harbor Ave. Gunshots at 1 a.m. when a man pointed an apparent weapon in the direction of officers. Wounded by the police with non-life-threatening wounds to the lower body, a 28-year-old male resident of Long Beach later told officers he was suicidal, the weapon CO2-powered paintball pistol.

1300 block of Orange Ave. At 2:43 a.m., a man in a domestic dispute at a Halloween party allegedly struck the woman and five bystanders near or on a sidewalk with a silver sedan, sped off on Orange Avenue. Police found 27-year-old Richard Dalton Irigoyen of Long Beach in Compton, then to a hospital for injuries unrelated to his arrest and into custody for six counts of attempted murder, six counts of assault with a deadly weapon and felony domestic violence, bail at six … that’s $6 million.

The Home Depot, 751 Spring St. At 3:45 p.m., a man in camo pants stole two Milwaukee drills at Home Depot, took off running on the freeway to Atlantic Ave., toward Target, possibly in search of extension cords.

Long Beach. At 5 p.m., another afternoon, two more Milwaukee drills stolen.

Myrtle Ave. and South St. At 11 p.m., police met with a man who was shot and wounded in the lower body, non-life-threatening, that is. Police couldn’t find a crime scene.

5300 block of Fourth St. At 5 p.m., a burglar entered a home, took a spare key and a blue Ford Platinum Expedition for a test drive, which he or she failed by crashing into parked cars on 6th and Park, totaling five of said vehicles. Driver did not stick around as required by law, but instead fled, so police are looking for him, her or them.

3200 block of Oregon Ave. At 7:26 p.m. residents heard shots. Police found two firearms. A 30-year old-man was booked on being a prohibited possessor in possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, an assault weapon and parole violation.

Artesia Blvd. and Downey Ave. At 7:29 p.m., a man was stabbed, expected to survive. The assailant fled to avoid police.

700 block of Chestnut Ave. At 9:14 p.m., a man was shot in the upper body; the shooter fled. Taken to local hospital, the victim’s in critical condition. Possibly the suspect and victim know each other.

1700 block of Alamitos Ave. At 11 p.m., with road rage in mind, a driver fired at another vehicle, which was duly struck by gunfire. Police didn’t find a crime scene.

Pacific Coast Hwy and Chestnut Ave. At 2:11 a.m., two men were shot by the other; one duel victim taken by paramedics to the hospital, the other self-transported with a gunshot wound to the upper body. The respective wounds were non-life-threatening.

Garford St. near Clark Ave. At 12:15 a.m., police responded to a shooting call in which two men got in an altercation and one shot the other. The wounded man hospitalized; the shooter gonzo.

1300 block of Gaylord St. The 2:55 a.m. sighting of persons on the roof of a business meant summoning police, raising it to a SWAT action and the arrest of the rooftop guy. The four inside burglars required more time, finally surrendering without problems.

1000 block of Queens Way Dr. At 9:50 a.m., a female body was pulled from the water by several citizens.

Los Coyotes Diag. at Metz St. At an 8:20 a.m., a call of a knife-waving man in a parked vehicle holding a firearm. After several de-escalation attempts, the officer fired, the 40-year-old man from Palmdale suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the upper body. The firearm was a replica BB gun.
