East Vista St. At 3 a.m., as a famed rock n roll bass guitarist and spouse were out of town, two men broke into the house, stole stuff.

Sunday, October 2

10th St. and Termino Ave. At 3:09 a.m., a man attempted to rob a man, then stabbed him in a non-life-threatening way in the lower body. Police were unable to locate a crime scene.

Anaheim St. and Deforest Ave. At 3:52 a.m., two armed men who began shooting at a man in the upper body causing non-life-threatening injuries.

Tuesday, October 4

91 Freeway at Downey Ave. At 8:30 a.m., CHP was inn a high speed pursuit of a non-stolen BMW sedan beginning in Walnut at 7 a.m. With a frozen front tire, the burglary suspect sideswiped several vehicles, pushing one in another direction. Six freeways later, after colliding with a big rig, two suspects ran across the center divider and into a CHP unit in surrender; two still in the vehicle were also arrested. The BMW belonged to a suspect.

3100 block of Broadway and Obispo Ave. At 4 p.m., a two-car collision resulted in one vehicle hitting a vacant storefront next door to the Wine Crush, bouncing off, later towed off. Injuries or not was unknown,

Wednesday, October 5

Deukmejian Courthouse Jimmy Lee Vernon III, 31, Ladell Tharpe, 37, and Deshon Bell, 20 of Long Beach were indicted for alleged $2,674,000 robbery with at least three co-conspirators at a Beverly Hills jewelry store, all driving in tandem from Long Beach to Beverly Hills to use axes, sledgehammers and crowbars to smash the store’s exterior glass cases. Flaws in the plot: a cell phone falling from Vernon’s sweatpants during the window smashing; Tharpe posting numerous Instagram photographs with money stacks and praise for his “robbery gang.”

Friday, October 7

5500 block of El Jardin St. An attempted home burglary occurred at 8:20 p.m. The victim spotted three men in the backyard, who fled and did not break into the home.

5600 block of El Parque St. At 9:41 p.m., a homeowner posting on Nextdoor was less lucky: his sliding door smashed, jewelry stolen. “Our home just got broken into last night and apparently this is the work of a network of Chileans that come here to loot wealthier neighborhoods and then go back to Chile later on. A gang of sort and rotational so may be a whole different set weeks later. International focusing on wealthier nations. Very professional accessing master bedroom only looking for jewelry and expensive handbags.”

4200 block of Country Club Dr. At 9:52 p.m., a third burglary, door pried open, jewelry stolen. Some blame ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) allowing citizens of 38 countries to travel to the United States for tourism or business for 90 days or less without first obtaining a visa. It is not automatic, Customs and Border Patrol officers still attempt to prevent criminals from entering the U.S. Said another Nextdoor poster, “A very sophisticated Chilean gang recruits young men and pays for their flights, weapons, transportation and pays them to burglarize houses in wealthy areas. I don’t know how long recruits stay here or if they return while their visa is still current. They are notorious for entering through open bathroom windows or second story windows.”

4300 block of East Carson St. At 11:33 p.m., a man fired shots into the, but fled the area, we know not where.

Saturday, October 9

1800 block of East Broadway. At 2:17 a.m., after a verbal dispute, a disputee stabbed another with an unknown object.

Anonymous Hospital At 4:32 a.m., a man with a gunshot wound wasn’t talking; police can’t find a crime scene with no location known.

Monday, October 10

14th Street and Locust Ave. At 10:03 p.m., a shooting suspect barricaded himself in a motor home with SWAT arresting 48-year-old John Daniel Dinkins for assault with a firearm and prohibited person in possession of body armor. Bail: $100,000.

1300 block of Ximeno Avenue At 11:49 p.m., a woman was stabbed in her upper body; transported to a hospital in stable condition. Amber Brown, 43, of Long Beach booked for assault with a deadly weapon, domestic violence and contempt of court. Bail: $100,000.

Studebaker Rd. north of Spring St. At 11:55 p.m., a man lying outside of a crosswalk on northbound Studebaker was struck and killed by a 2007 Honda Civic driven by a Long Beach resident.

Wednesday, October 12

Spring St. and Pacific Ave. At 3 a.m., a man walking near Veterans Park was approached by a gunman. When he attempted to grab the firearm, he was shot. A good Samaritan transported him to the fire station at the 2200 block of Elm Avenue, whence he was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Despite all this, police couldn’t locate a crime scene.

Thursday, October 13

Willow St. and Bellflower Blvd. At 8:35 a.m., a female bicyclist and motorist collided.

Pacific Coast Hwy. and Temple Ave. at 8:29 p.m., a male pedestrian died outside a crosswalk by a hit-and-run westbound Chevrolet.
