Sunday, August 6

29th St. and Chestnut Ave. At 7:21 p.m., Robert Mallard, 23, and John Nelson II, 19, of Los Angeles met up with Kelvin Montoya, 20, about alleged marijuana. A fight ensued. “The fight escalated into a shooting and stabbing, which resulted in Montoya’s death,” police said. All three men were hospitalized, Montoya didn’t make it. Detained at the hospital for questioning, Mallard and Nelson were arrested after officers found a firearm that was tossed in the area of the shooting.

Broadway and Hermosa Ave. At 10:30 p.m., a vehicle hit a pedestrian, left the scene, the victim unconscious and barely breathing, transported to a hospital with major trauma. Classic hit-and-run.

Monday, August 7

Pine Ave. and Pacific Coast Hwy. At 3:44 a.m., a seated male struck by gunfire was transported by a bystander to a hospital a non-life-threatening gunshot lower body wound.

Tuesday, August 8

Anaheim St. station railway platform. At 11:30 a.m., a woman sitting on a bench was approached by a woman who began arguing with her, then stabbed her in the lower body. She was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The other woman, still on the platform was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon.

700 block of Virginia Ct. At 2:15 p.m., came a suspicious person looking into parked vehicles call. A black Kia Rio with a broken rear window matched the description from a previous vandalism call. Five male juveniles holding auto burglary tools, attempting to steal and/or vandalize a Hyundai Tucson. Four detained and released on scene; one juvenile booked for possession of stolen firearm and released to a parent.

20th St. and Orange Ave. At 5:10 p.m., a man driving in the area was shot at by two men. Arriving officers saw two males matching the shooter descriptions. A short foot pursuit, both subjects arrested. Knowledge Strikland, 18, of Long Beach for assault with a firearm and resisting arrest; bail: $50,000. The second suspect a 16-year-old male. No injuries reported.

Wednesday, August 9

1000 block of Redondo Ave. At 2:26 a.m., two men argued, one fired a gun into the air. Both fled leaving no injuries.

Thursday, August 10

5100 block of Brockwood St. At 8 p.m. during an argument, a man fired at two others as they attempted to drive away, leaving a woman with a wound to her upper body and a man with a non-life-threatening wound to his upper body. A possible other victim was struck with unknown wounds. The victims pulled over at Wardlow Road and Clark Avenue in a minor traffic collision, the driver of which saw the victim’s wounds and called police. The woman is in critical but stable condition.

Friday, August 11

800 block of Via Carmelitos. At 12:12 a.m., a shooter did that into an inhabited dwelling. Evidence of bullet casings and strike marks supported the tale.

Saturday, August 12

Long Beach Blvd. and 68th St. At 2:29 a.m., a man inside a vehicle was shot by a person in a dark colored sedan, causing non-life threatening gunshot wound to the lower body. The victim transported himself to the hospital. Gang detectives were called in.

Sunday, August 13

5400 block of Linden Ave. At 2:02 a.m., an argument escalated to shots being fired in the air. Daniel Salas-Barrios, 29, of Long Beach was arrested for assault with a firearm. Bail: $50,000 bail. Officers located casings and evidence that someone shot his shot.

800 block of 15th St. At 5:10 a.m., police saw three vehicles leaving the area of a reported burglary. Two vehicles immediately fled the area, the driver of the U-Haul fled on foot, leaving the loot behind. The driver nabbed, the burgled booty found its way back to the rightful owner.

Monday, August 14

19th St. and Lime Ave. At 5:55 p.m., a woman in her backyard heard gunfire and saw several males running through the alley firing off more shots, nearly striking the victim. The victim was not injured.

Tuesday, August 15

100 block of Arbor St. At 2:44 a.m., shots were fired into an inhabited dwelling, verified by casings, No injuries, suspect information and motive unknown.

Anaheim St. and Martin Luther King Ave. At 3:02 a.m., a woman stabbed a man with non-life-threatening injuries to the lower body.

3400 block of Andy St. At 4:43 a.m., a man shot in the upper body was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Sunday, August 20

100 block of Pine Ave. At 12:20 a.m., a fight broke out between groups of people who fled, leaving behind one of those people with stab wounds.

Chestnut St. and Ellis St. At 4:54 a.m., a shooter did just that into an inhabited dwelling, backed up by evidence, bullet casings and strike marks. No injuries, no suspect, no motive,

Recreation Park. At 1:50 p.m., a doofus did damp donuts.

Third St. and Linden Ave. At 6:18 p.m., a man and woman argument escalated to a she vs. he stabbing with a non-life-threatening wound to the upper body. She drove away to the 1100 block of East Broadway where Rubi Rosales Martinez, 24, of Long Beach was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, domestic violence, and DUI.. Bail: $50,000.
