Friday, March 1
Eighth St. and Martin Luther King Blvd. At 12:21 a.m. as a woman was getting into a vehicle with her four-month-old child in a stroller, they were struck by a dark colored car. Injuries were non-life-threatening, in stable condition.
2008 Cedar Ave. A multi-unit apartment building caught fire at 9 a.m. with a resident rescued by firefighters.
San Gabriel River and Willow St. At 11:45 a.m., after a report of “a body that did not appear to have died from natural causes.”
Saturday, March 2
3400 block of Adriatic Ave. At 9:41 p.m., shots fired, evidence like strike marks remained, the first for the month.
Sunday, March 3
5200 block of East Second St. At 1:06 a.m., after a man came to the defense of several young women who were being harassed by a group of men at Dave’s Hot Chicken. The men left, but returned wearing hoodies. One of them stabbed 20-year-old Adrian Hernandez, who later died at the hospital. The stabber then fled. On Monday, March 4, police identified and arrested Brandon Nguyen, 29 of Huntington Beach at LAX. Nguyen was booked for murder, held without bail. Police later served a search warrant on Nguyen’s home.
El Dorado Park. According a Nextdoor poster, at 3 p.m. near the archery range, “a kid who appeared to be about 12-years-old on a black electric bike appeared to be following me” holding a small possible video camera. “I changed directions off the pathway and he still followed, saying something like, ‘do you want to walka?’ I told him I didn’t understand and to leave me alone, at which time he pulled out a small knife at his side. I immediately ran towards the street and flagged down a nice woman who let me get in her car and drove me to the park office. Park staff encouraged me to file police report.”
Monday, March 4
2300 block of East Artesia Blvd. At 5:20 p.m., a brief physical altercation occurred between a pair of working men, the victim sustaining minor injuries. Then the suspect discharged a firearm, missing the victim.
Tuesday, March 5
1000 block of Olive Ave. At 9:38 p.m., a man and woman received non-life-threatening wounds to their upper bodies after arguing with a man who stabbed the two after the victim attempted to separate the suspect and female victim. The man punched through a glass window, then fled to a hospital with non-life-threatening wounds. Albert Dylon Knightstead, a 27-year-old resident of Long Beach, was arrested, booked for two counts of attempted murder. Bail: $2,100,000.
Wednesday, March 6
2100 block East Ocean Blvd. At 1:50 a.m., reports of a submerged vehicle near the parking lot meant a dive team to check for bodies inside the vehicle. At 2:15 a.m., the team advised no bodies found.
Thursday, March 7
2300 block of East 70th St. At 12:30 a.m., a man driving a 2010 Dodge Charger collided with a wall found deceased as a possible medical emergency.
2000 block of Long Beach Blvd. At 10:29 p.m., while walking on Long Beach Boulevard, a man was physically assaulted by three men, one of whom stabbed the man with non-life-threatening injuries.
Friday, March 8
Seventh St. and Orange Ave. At 2:30 a.m., police pursuit from Orange County, a car was hit and the second car swiped the parked cars on the other side. The driver ran and the passenger rushed to the hospital.
6700 block of Gardenia Ave. At 4:02 a.m., a gunslinger did a shooting thing, then left bullet casings and strike marks, but no injuries or gunshot victims. Who and why the shooter is: a mystery.
Saturday, March 9
Long Beach Blvd. and Bort St. At 6:23 p.m., during an argument, a man was stabbed with a non-life-threatening wound to the upper body.
5500 block of Dairy Ave. At 10:15 p.m., a man in a parked car experienced a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the upper body.
Sunday, March 10
Los Primos Taqueira 200 block of W. Anaheim St. Six or seven shots. a scream at 3:19 a.m., a man shot in a non-life-threatening way to the lower body un-cooperated with police.
2700 block of East Second St. At 8:30 p.m., a shooting was held, but by whom or why, no nothing.
Monday, March 11
Del Amo Blvd. at the 710 Freeway. At 8:15 p.m., a vehicle vs. horse collision, the driver transported, animal control had been requested for the horse, of course, no access to a trailer.
Tuesday, March 12
1300 block of Pine Ave. At 6:11 p.m., more mystery shooting stuff, bullet casings, strike marks and the rest.
5200 block of Atlantic Ave. At 6:16 p.m., an argument, then man stabbed by someone in a group, the result was a non-life-threatening stab wound to the upper body.
Wednesday, March 13
5300 block of Pine Ave. When firefighters at Fire Station 11 smelled smoke at 6:31 a.m., they determined it was coming from a fire at a nearby home. After suppressing the fire, they discovered Willie Donell Smith, a 54-year-old Long Beach resident, who was deceased in the home.
