Monday, July 7

4900 block Ruth St. At 9:38 p.m., a man shot at another person, missed the targeted individual, but managed to dash into a nearby apartment complex. Casings were recovered.

Shoreline Village. An armed Border Patrol agent, Isaiah Holgann, 38, approached a woman in the women’s room at the Yard House. She reported this encounter to management who then called police. Holgann was then asked by restaurant security to leave. Police arrived and found him intoxicated “and unwilling to cooperate with their commands as they tried to detain him.” An officer was injured as police subdued him with a stun gun. As he was supposedly not carrying identification as required for carrying his gun, it was considered to be out of policy. He was booked and released at 3 a.m. on the condition of not carrying a firearm, which had been issued by his employer.

Thursday, July 10

5800 block of Myrtle Ave. An 8:40 p.m. shooting of a man in the upper and lower body meant a trip to a hospital for treatment, while the shooter and weapon relocated elsewhere.

Friday, July 11

6700 block of Cherry Ave. At 6:54 p.m., a shooting with nary a victim, nary an injury and a complete absence of shooter information.

Saturday, July 12

Pine Ave. and Broadway. Blacked out vehicle with no plates with four inside at 110 mph with Highway Patrol following at 1:53 a.m. back on freeway where 100- plus drivers belong.

1500 block of W. Pacific Coast Hwy. and Caspian Ave. At 10:14 p.m., an armed occupant of a dark colored SUV shot through the sunroof of the SUV. A SUV matching the description was pulled over nearby and the occupants detained. The southbound 710 was stopped at Willow so the police can search for the gun that the shooter threw out before the stop.

Sunday, July 13

Los Angeles River Bike Path north of Willow St. At 5:20 a.m., the body of 55-year-old Rachel Sabori of Long Beach was found on the bike path with indications she may have fallen off a motorcycle or other moving vehicle.

Pacific Coast Hwy. and Golden Ave. At 6:38 p.m., a westbound vehicle collided with 36-year-old pedestrian, Omar Tovar crossing Pacific Coast Highway west of Golden Avenue, who was pronounced dead. The driver remained on-scene and cooperated with the investigation.

14th Street at Chestnut Ave. A series of 10:48 p.m. shots fired at something, then police initated a short foot pursuit, arresting a subject matching the description of the shooter in the 200 block West 14th street. Casings recovered in the area.

Oregon Ave. and Anaheim St. At 8:16 p.m., another victim-free, injury-free and information-free shooting was conducted by an identity-free gunslinger.

Monday, July 14

Atlantic Ave. and Spring St. The sometimes conversion of the Home Depot parking lot into a takeover practice site with about 50 donut doing vehicles at 10:30 p.m., ending with an exhibition of loud exhaust blasts, ensuring the mixed-reaction attention of nearby residents. Whoopee, big fun. Then came the next movable street takeover.

Orange Ave. and Harding St. At midnight, when an exhaust-filled street takeover featuring a red speedster wrapped up for a night of smoke and tire treads, street waifs and speedos broke into the local J&G Market to ransack it for beer, booze and snacks, giving hooliganism a bad name.

Wednesday, July 16

Los Angeles River at 91 Fwy. At 11:20 a.m., police responded to the finding of 40-year-old Martin Segura deceased from a gunshot wound to the upper body underneath the freeway. Murder suspected.

Friday, July 18

Pacific Coast Hwy. and Lemon Ave. At 10:37 p.m., a vehicle struck a pedestrian, leaving the latter unconscious and barely breathing. Most of westbound lanes of PCH were thus shut down.

Saturday, July 19

100 block of East 68th St. At 12:05 a.m., a man who fired in the direction of an all-woman assemblage fled in a vehicle. Locating said vehicle, police arrested said suspect as well as finding firearm. Nehemiah Luther Condon, a 24-year-old resident of Compton booked for assault with a deadly weapon and carrying a loaded firearm in a public place. Bail: $30,000.

4800 block of Lakewood Blvd. At 5:30p.m., a man was approached by another man who robbed and shot him with a non-life-threatening wound to the upper body. Officers could not locate a crime scene.

405 and 605 Fwy. junction. A 9 p.m. police pursuit of a flaming red truck wanted for “weaving” crashed at Imperial and Studebaker with arrest of a duo of fleeing malefactors.

2700 E. 56th Way. At 9:47 p.m., a second story apartment fire with heavy smoke and flames, declared knocked down at 9:51 p.m.

Sunday, July 20

Second St. At 5:14 a.m. a man appeared at a hospital outside of the city with a non-life-threatening stab wound to the upper body. Police deduced he was “somewhere near” Second Street when stabbed.

Spring St. between Clark Ave. and Lakewood Blvd. A 11:30 a.m. fire in a chamber of a flood control tunnel possibly originating from an encampment inside the tunnel was difficult for firefighters to reach with their hoses.
