August 19

LBPD arrests 34-year-old LB man on suspicion of alleged indecent exposures and lewd acts with minors. Recent incidents include May 25, 2020, area Spring St./Studebaker Rd., allegedly masturbating in vehicle; July 9, 2020, area Atherton St,/Palo Verde Ave, allegedly exposed himself to 15-year-old female, plus two Oct. 2019 incidents (Wardlow/Golden and Atlantic/Harding) allegedly masturbating in vehicle. In an initial court appearance, the suspect (now defendant) entered a plea of not guilty.

August 18

Area Hanbury St./Karen Ave. (near McBride High); garage break-in, property stolen between 3:30-4 a.m.

August 17

4th St./Temple Ave. area, overnight fire in mini-mall 2700 block E. 4th St.; smoke travels from involved unit to adjacent unit with veterinary hospital. LBFD rescued two cats and gave them on-site care for smoke inhalation. LB Animal Care Services transported the cats to an emergency medical clinic where they received additional care (one of smoke inhalation, the other stable and monitored.)

August 15

Area Lei Drive/Polynesian Dr. (west of Atlantic Ave., south of Artesia Blvd.): One-year-old boy is run over by a vehicle. LBPD release says a car service had just delivered father and child to their residence; the father became momentarily distracted; the child ran in front of the vehicle; the driver pulled away from the curb but failed to see child in front of the vehicle, striking him with a front tire. The driver remained at the scene for LBPD’s investigation. The child perished at a hospital.

August 13

Area NW NLB Eleanor Lane/68th St. (north of 91 freeway, west of 710 freeway.) About 8:30 p.m. two vehicles (sedan and a truck) chase each other through the neighborhood as gunfire heard. LBPD finds casings, no persons apparently hit.
