Pike commercial area, violence and gunfire (no persons hit). LBPD deployed resources after receiving information regarding plans for a large group gathering. At about 5 p.m., an officer observed “a large fight” taking place (area Bay Street/Aquarium Way) and subsequently learned a suspect had pistol-whipped a victim (both fled before officers arrived.) (Officers later contacted a juvenile victim who self-admitted to an out-of-city hospital for a blunt force trauma injury.) .While police investigated that incident, they heard what they believed were gunshots fired east of their location and subsequently found evidence of a shooting (bullet casings) in the area of Pine Ave./E. Shoreline Dr. No victims found in the shooting. LBPD says it’s unclear if the no-person-hit shooting and earlier fight are related.

Nature Center fire (this time just west of the San Gabriel River bike path between Willow and Spring Streets. The LB Accountability Action Group comments: “City leaders have been warned numerous times about the homeless on the river and their propensity to start fires in the adjoining Nature Center. Eventually there is going to be a fire that wipes out the Nature Center or does serious damage. That will happen as long as the status quo is allowed to exist and political correctness reigns supreme.”
