Frosted Cupcakery Makes Arguably the Greatest Cupcakes on Earth
Yes, that is a bold statement. Yes indeed, however, I reluctantly put the word ‘arguably’ in the title. These cupcakes are that good. Frosted cupcakes will actually make you mad at other cupcakes for being so inferior. I just finished eating one of their strawberry cupcakes and the damn thing has made me emotional! I am almost mad that I am so happy over a cupcake!.
They say it is the simple things in life. Phhh, no simplicity here. Frosted prepares their cupcakes in their bakery every day, throughout the day, spreading their rich and flavorful buttercream and cream cheese frosting by hand right here on 2nd Street.
To me, the foundation of a fantastic cupcake is the actual cake itself. It must be moist and soft with a fresh aroma that hits your sense of smell with the first bite as your taste buds explode with sweet happiness. The frosting should complement the cake without overwhelming it, and both should have enough intense flavor to make you want to close your eyes and smile as you eat. Frosted cupcakes do just that.
A single cupcake is $4.85 and a dozen cupcakes is $52. Totally worth it. They have a variety of eclectic flavors and showcase a different cupcake every month.
For example, the Chocolate/Coconut Vanilla Buttercream is a cupcake with chocolate cake, vanilla cream frosting and is covered in shredded coconut and it is divine. Not to be outdone by their infamous Lemon Cream Cheese cupcake with a lemon zest cream cheese frosting topped with a candy lemon gummy, simply fantastic.
There are a lot of mediocre cupcakes out there on this beautiful planet: dry, waxy, flavorless, or just simply forgettable, but not at Frosted Cupcakery. Eating a frosted cupcake is like hearing The Beatles for the first time. Oh, and bring in your driver’s license on your birthday and they will give you a free cupcake!
To sit here and ramble about these Frosted cupcakes isn’t getting any of us anywhere. Carefully sit down this paper and calmly get yourself to 4817 2nd St. and see if I am not right on the cupcake mark. Life is about the little indulges that remind you of wonderful childhood memories and good times. These cupcakes at Frosted Cupcakery are capable of taking you back to your inner-child where you dwell on nothing more than the simple fun of eating something wonderful.
For a complete dining experience on 2nd Street may I suggest dinner at George’s Greek Café, then stroll across the street and take in a cupcake at Frosted, they stay open till 8 p.m. and the great people who work there are fun and full of personality.
Viva Frosted Cupcakery, yet another reason why Long Beach rules.
Go eat for yourself.
