LB Municipal Band

NEWLY APPOINTED DIRECTOR of Parks, Recreation and Marine Brent Dennis enthusiastically introduces the Long Beach Municipal Band to 900-plus picnicking concert aficionados at El Dorado Regional Park on Aug. 20. After the hiatus of a one-year COVID-19 interlude, the Long Beach Municipal Band has returned in fine form. Kurt Curtis, the son of late, long-time Long Beach Municipal Band conductor Larry Curtis will take up the baton as the new conductor of the 112-year-old, 40-piece professional band. The last summer performance will be held tonight, Aug. 27, at El Dorado Park, 2800 Studebaker Rd. “A Celebration Through Music” will be a tribute to Curtis’ father, who passed away in June 2019 after leading the band for 27 years. Esteemed vocalist Nicole Kubis also will join the band following intermission. The concert starts at 6:30 p.m.
