Hospital ‘Shelter’

So, here we are again: no information, no notification, no transparency, the public purposefully left in the dark. “Oh, by the way, Community Hospital will be a homeless shelter starting next Friday and the city will be paying Molina Wu Network rent for this with your tax dollars (after having already given them the hospital itself).

Oh, and we’ve declared it a “crisis,” so we won’t have to abide by local laws and zoning restrictions.”

Meanwhile, during a triple pandemic, the east side of Long Beach is still left with no hospital or emergency services, completely ignoring the needs of the local community and surrounding neighborhood.

And then, suddenly, the issue appears on the Tuesday Dec. 13 City Council agenda, item #33 of 34 (in hopes that no angry citizen will be able to survive the entire length of the meeting). [This] suspiciously three days before the official zombie-like reincarnation of Community Hospital into a homeless shelter begins.

C’mon, city “leaders,” why the secrecy? What are you hiding? Should we, as always, just follow the money? Aren’t there yet even more excuses you can find to fill the pockets of John Molina and friends with taxpayers’ dollars? Let me count the ways!

Merry Colvin

Unbelievable, let’s not kid ourselves, Molina knew exactly what the goal for the Community Hospital was going to be when they started this charade of making the effort of putting this hospital back in use as a hospital, open and then closing in six months, and now converting it into a homeless shelter without proper notice to the neighborhood on 15th Street and Termino Avenue.

City of Long Beach is ignoring the destruction of property, decrease of property values, the condition of alcoholism and drug addiction that comes with the homeless and the danger to persons to be attacked without provocation.

The persons with Molina are also astute knowing that millions can be made from the homeless programs in which cities and states pay for their participation.

Where are the clinics to help those that are sick and programs to help persons to get back to work? What security is going to be provided? What type of personnel is going to work at the hospital?

You can see the decay of cities, states and government when programs like this are put into play and no one is held accountable.

Government

War is coming, sooner or later. You are the government. You are mostly a bunch of money-grubbing cowards. You raised the cost of living and taxes so high that both parents are always at work, rather than spending time with their children.

You took God out of schools. Parents were told “No you can’t discipline your kids.” Well, now most of those kids are rude and out of control. You shall reap what you sow. We have taken a whole generation and turned them into selfish, entitled brats who have no respect for people, property or authority.

You deem people with terminal illnesses and some with only a few months to live fit for work. You allow our veterans of war to go homeless and hungry but give out millions to foreign aid. You save drug addicts over and over again but refuse to give free diabetic supplies to those who need them to stay alive. You put the retirement age up so people must work until they drop. You take care of prisoners and give them everything under the sun (food, medical, education, representation, money, rehabilitation); yet you cause the elderly – those who have paid their debt to society and their families – to go broke caring for them, either at home or in a nursing home.

You pass laws that enrich political donors and create exorbitant salaries and benefits for yourselves that the average citizen could never hope to achieve. You bend over backwards to be politically correct, too scared to say enough is enough, in case you offend someone. You would force a 10-year-old girl, raped and pregnant by her father, to have a birth that will most likely kill her. You have created a breeding ground for discontent. Things need to change!
