THIS WEEK AT LONG BEACH STATE

Player of the Week: Nemanja Bakic, Men’s Water Polo – Sophomore Nemanja Bakic scored three straight goals in the fourth quarter as LBSU mounted a furious comeback against No. 4 Stanford that came up just short in a one-goal loss. Bakic then scored a pair of goals in a 17-4 win over Long Beach City.

Women’s Soccer (9-6-3, 3-3-2 Big West), Tied at CSUN, 2-2 (2OT), Won vs. UC Davis, 2-0

• The Beach finished the season on a three-match unbeaten streak and head coach Mauricio Ingrassia has now strung together eight straight winning seasons while at the helm of the LBSU women’s soccer program.

Women’s Volleyball (7-18, 4-8 BWC), Lost vs. UC Davis, 3-1, Won vs. UC Irvine, 3-0

• LBSU picked up a sweep of UC Irvine to snap a three-match losing streak. The Beach won the final six points of the third set while the Anteaters had match point, taking the frame 26-24 to close out the sweep.

No. 7 Men’s Water Polo (11-11, 1-2 GCC), Lost vs. No. 4 Stanford, 10-9, Won vs. Long Beach City College, 17-4

• Down 10-6, the Beach scored three straight goals in the fourth quarter to nearly upset No. 4 Stanford on senior day at the Ken Lindgren Aquatics Center, before rolling over Long Beach City 17-4 in an exhibition.

Cross Country at Big West Conference Championships

• Senior George Martinez records a personal best in the men's 8K with a time of 24:45.8.  Men's team finishes in seventh place among eight teams.
• Junior Mikayla Florez posts a personal best in the women's 6K with a mark of 21:25.4.  Women's team takes sixth among nine teams.

Men’s Golf at Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational

• LBSU ties for sixth among 20 teams at 4-under.  Junior Andres Gonzalez ties for ninth at 7-under.

Women’s Golf at Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown

• -LBSU places ninth among 16 teams at 19-over.  Senior Jennifer Yu and sophomore Maria Davis ties for 20th at 1-over.
