May Stroke Awareness

Dignity Health – St. Mary Medical Center (SMMC) partnered with The Salvation Army Long Beach on May 30 to host a community health screening and education event in honor of Stroke Awareness Month. The event was open to all community members in the Greater Long Beach area.

Dr. Wally Wazni, medical director of Community Health Education and Neuroendovascular Surgery at SMMC, hosted a presentation on brain health and stroke prevention. Attendees also participated in stroke health screenings, such as cholesterol, blood glucose, and blood pressure. The SMMC Education Team distributed health education, information and resources along with immediate lab results.
