Panama Joe’s on 2nd Street Has Amazing Burritos and More!

Jonathan Pekar, Food Dude

I am fascinated by 2nd Street next to Alamitos Bay. So much activity going on with people who scream of unique personality and charisma. This area has a feel for what the American dream really is. A dream that also includes food from various regions of this wonderful round planet and Panama Joe’s will give you the taste and feel of Mexico.

Such a visually charming and comfortable environment with a menu that is fantastic from start to finish. A true feast for the senses. The portions are generous without being overwhelming and each dish is artfully presented on a hot plate.

Their menu has a variety of burritos, quesadillas, enchiladas and tacos that I really enjoy and their salsa is thick and rich with flavors that will put a smile on your face. Panama Joe’s also has a large bar area with lots of mixed drinks and a diverse stock of tequilas and whiskeys.

The ceilings are high which makes for a comfortable surrounding with lots of wall space used for surf-themed photos and traditional Mexican paintings that are everywhere. There are flat-screens throughout the entire establishment and everyone always seems to be having a great time.

The party can spill out into the sidewalks and streets on this 2nd Street corner, so be mindful when parking and watch the meters, no need for parking tickets.

To top it all off the service at Panama Joe’s is impeccable. They work as a team and are very friendly as they see to it that you get everything you need for lunch or dinner. They also have plenty of seating for large groups. Their happy hour is from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. where you can add a dollar to any draft beer to make it a 22-ounce giant schooner! Oh yes! At Panama Joe’s they know their audience.

I highly recommend Panama Joe’s to anyone looking for a delicious meal in a fun atmosphere. It is a cool spot to go on dates or casual dinner with friends. I brought my family from out of town to Panama Joe’s and it was their favorite restaurant. Viva Panama Joe’s and Long Beach!

Go eat for yourself.
