Connor Delgado

Connor Delgado is a 13-year-old newspaper carrier for the Beachcomber who has ambitions to join the NBA. When Connor is not working or attending school at Marshall Academy of the Arts, he is playing basketball in his free time.

He said it’s a fun sport to play and is currently playing with the Long Beach club, Nikos. His favorite basketball player is Ray Allen, who used to play for the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat. As for his favorite team, he likes the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Connor said he likes his current job as a newspaper carrier, however, folding the newspapers would have to be his least favorite part. As of now, he delivers newspapers to Wardlow, Woodruff, Bellflower and Conant. He likes making the money so he can use it to buy food, video games and other things that interest him, “I play a lot of Fortnite and 2K20.”

Before playing basketball Connor played soccer, “Watching basketball made me want to play it more.” His favorite soccer player is Antoine Griezmann who currently plays for the French national team and Spanish club, Barcelona. He enjoys watching foreign soccer, specifically the English Premier League and Spanish football league, La Liga.

He wants to continue playing basketball through high school, wanting to go to Millikan High School or Long Beach Polytechnic High School, because it is close and where most of his friends will be attending. His current goals are to get more minutes playing for Nikos and to join the NBA in his adulthood.
