Traffic Fatality – Pacific Avenue & PCH

On Thursday, Nov. 26, at approximately 9:30 p.m., officers were flagged down on Pacific Avenue north of Pacific Coast Highway regarding an injury hit and run traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian, which resulted in the death of a female adult.

Upon arrival, officers found a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle. The Long Beach Fire Department responded, but despite life-saving measures, the victim succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The victim was identified as Erica Cardenas, a 30-year-old resident of Long Beach.

The preliminary investigation revealed a sedan traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on Pacific Avenue struck a pedestrian in an unmarked crosswalk. The driver did not stop and immediately fled the area. The suspect vehicle is described as a dark-colored sedan with major front-end damage.
