Anduril Industries Sets Sights on Long Beach
On Jan. 23, American Defense Technology Company Anduril Industries announced that it will be expanding, with the construction of a new industrial campus in Long Beach.
Founded in 2017, Anduril Industries was created with the purpose of modernizing the United States’ military potential, through the development of advanced autonomous systems, robotics and artificial intelligence.
Since its founding, Anduril Industries has received numerous awards and contracts from the U.S. government. This past January, the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) awarded Anduril with a $23.9 million contract to develop more than 600 of its Bolt-M – a man-packable loitering ammunition drone – systems for the USMC’s ongoing Organic Precision Fires-Light (OPF-L) program. And in September 2025, Anduril was awarded a $159 million contract by the U.S. Army to develop a night vision and mixed-reality system, as part of the Soldier Borne Mission Command program.
According to an official press release from Anduril Industries, the Long Beach expansion project will span approximately 1.18 million square feet across six buildings, of which the campus will contain both office and industrial buildings that are expected to be used for research and development projects.
Reported to be constructed near Douglas Park, a massive industrial and business campus not far from the Long Beach Airport (LGB), Anduril Industries’ Long Beach location will be the company’s second major facility in Southern California, following the company’s offices at The Hive campus in Orange County, as well the company’s main headquarters in Costa Mesa.
With its arrival to Long Beach, Anduril Industries is expected to play a major role in the city’s long history as a major hub in American aerospace technology. Aptly nicknamed “Space Beach,” Anduril Industries will join other major aerospace manufacturers that call Long Beach home, including Rocket Lab, Boeing, SpaceX and JetZero.
Anduril Industries’ recent announcement to the expansion was also supported by local city officials, including that of Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson, who welcomed the defense technology company, sharing his eagerness to see how the company adds to Long Beach’s history as an aerospace technology hub.
“This investment is a major vote of confidence in Long Beach and California’s leadership in advanced manufacturing and aerospace. A more than one-million-square-foot campus supporting 5,500 new jobs only happens when a city has the workforce, infrastructure and industrial legacy to support growth at scale,” said Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson in a press release.
“Long Beach has long been a naval and manufacturing city, with a history of building complex aircraft. Today, the next generation of companies is choosing to build and hire here again. We are proud to welcome Anduril to Space Beach - one of the fastest-growing aerospace and advanced manufacturing hubs in the country, and we look forward to working with our world-class education and workforce partners to prepare local talent to meet this demand.”
Beachcomber has reached out to Anduril Industries for comments on the Long Beach expansion, but were not able to get a response at this time.
Construction of Anduril Industries’ Long Beach campus is scheduled to be completed and begin operations by mid-2027.
