The 4th of July neighborhood fireworks have created a domestic war zone. And, setting them off in Long Beach could literally cost you body parts and/or $20,000.
So, am I to believe what 3rd District Councilwoman Kristina Duggan said at the June 4 council meeting concerning how to deal with rising crime rates in Long Beach? She said that a solution to the problem would be – drum roll please – “more affordable housing.”
I’m surprised that the [Feb. 23] article didn’t raise any eyebrows about why the city is spending $4.1 million to provide 12 beds, in a barracks “sleeping pod” concept, at a cost of $341,667 per bed.
