Down Memory Lane

On Wednesday, July 22, I had an appointment in Long Beach. After my appointment I passed by the location of the former Long Beach Amphitheater. Mr. Propes, thanks for the trip down memory lane about the first Long Beach Amphitheater. I was in attendance for most of the performances that you mentioned in the June 26 issue of the Beachcomber.

I remember the Curtis Mayfield concert and hearing about the incident in Brooklyn.

I recall the vibrant and colorful Long Beach Carnival on the Promenade and concerts at the amphitheater.

My mind immediately went back to the Summer Concert Series at the amphitheater, while passing through on my way to the library. Little did I know that I would read about the popular concert series later in the evening after I pick up the Beachcomber at the Billie Jean King Library.

“Those were the days,” as heard on a popular sitcom.
