Thanks for publishing [June 9, “Lowenthal Comes Out Blazing on Climate Change”] this detailed account of our representative’s recent public address. You rightly point out that his cordial town halls offer a sharp contrast to the fractious ones held in other districts, where constituents don’t have our good fortune of having someone like Lowenthal and his staff, who understand the issues and are working for and not against the interest of the vast majority of folks.

He’s right. Market forces are leading us away from dirty fossil fuels to cleaner alternatives, but the transition needs to happen faster. And it can with a simple market-based mechanism: a fee on fossil fuels with the money collected going back to the people to help everyone adapt to the shift. Simple, Fair, Transformative!

Though I do not live in Long Beach, I am a frequent visitor and really appreciate your reporting. Keep up the good work!
