Civic Center Update

The new Civic Center Project will be the focus of the next edition of Straight Talk. Joining host Art Levine to discuss the project will be Jeff Fullerton, project director for Plenary Edgemoor Civic Partners, and Craig Beck, director of Public Works for the City of Long Beach. Plenary Edgemoor is partnering with the city in a public-private partnership (PPP) similar to the one used to build the new Governor George Deukmejian Courthouse.

The $520 million design-build-finance-operate-maintain civic center project will replace the old city hall and provide a new headquarters building for the Port of Long Beach, a new city library, a retail market place and a public park and community gathering space to serve residents and visitors for years to come. The project is likely to stimulate additional private investment in downtown areas adjacent to the project.

This show will air in Long Beach/Signal Hill on Saturday, Dec. 10 and Sunday, Dec. 11 at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. on LBTV Channel 3 and FiOS 21 and in Long Beach and 70 surrounding cities at 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Charter Channel 188. It will be repeated the following week at the same times. Straight Talk is also viewable on demand at www.StraightTalkTV.com.

Celebration of Christmas

Volunteers Needed

Smooth Travels

Long Beach Airport recently completed a maintenance project to improve the roadways and pedestrian crossing in front of the terminal. The goal is to improve the travel experience by adding a lane to improve the flow of traffic and relocating the median island to enhance the safety of travelers being picked up and dropped off. Despite these improvements, travelers are encouraged to do what they can to ensure their travels go smoothly during the holiday season, such as registering for TSA PreCheck and arriving early for their flights. For more information, visit www.lgb.org or call (562) 570-2678.
