Walking Tour

Join Long Beach Heritage on Saturday, Feb. 4, for their North Pine Walking tour.

As well as celebrating successful re-activation projects such as Kress Lofts, Walker Lofts, the Famous Department Stores building, York Temple Lofts, and Molina’s Press-Telegram and Meeker-Baker buildings, this tour highlights the charm of some of our earliest extant commercial structures along the Pine Avenue corridor between 4th and 8th Streets and reviews ongoing adaptive-reuse projects such as The Long Beach Professional Building and Vault 350.

ICT on Straight Talk

International City Theatre (ICT) will be the focus of the next edition of Straight Talk. Joining host Art Levine will be ICT Artistic Director/Producer Caryn Desai and Scott Dreier, Co-Director/Choreographer of ICT’s upcoming production of Forever Plaid.

This show will air in Long Beach/Signal Hill on Saturday, Feb. 4 and Sunday, Feb. 5 at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. on LBTV Channel 3 and Frontier FiOS 21. It also airs Saturday and Sunday in Long Beach and 70 surrounding cities at 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Charter Channel 188. Straight Talk is also viewable on demand at www.StraightTalkTV.com.

Republican Women

Brad Dacus, founder and president of Pacific Justice Institute, will be the speaker at the Long Beach Republican Women Federated meeting on Saturday, Feb. 11. Heart Health

On Tuesday, Feb. 14, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dignity Health – St. Mary Medical Center will be hosting a Heart Health Awareness Lunch and Learn. A physician-led lecture by cardiologist Dr. Nik Kapoor will accompany a heart healthy lunch as part of the hospital’s Heart Health Awareness Program.

The first open heart surgery in Long Beach took place 60 years ago at St. Mary. Special guest, Michael J. Rivard, the first open heart surgery patient, will briefly share his story of gratitude.

The program will take place in the Health Enhancement Center at the hospital. Parking is $5, except for Bazzeni Wellness Center Gold Card members.  Reservations are required and attendance is limited. Call 1-888-4ST-MARY to register.
