Monday, April 3

200 S. Pine Ave. At 11:20 p.m., came word that a woman was threatening to jump off a bridge and into the street. Then she sat down on a chair near the convention center entrance.

Tuesday, April 4

CSULB. At 12:15 p.m., university police responded to a report about a man punching a female student in the chest as she walked into a convenience store. The man, identified as Adrian Drannel Aglugub, with no connection with CSULB, but with a connection to past criminal activity, was arrested.

Wednesday, April 5

Seventh St. and Redondo Ave. At 9:10 a.m., a possible soft shell vehicle from Maryland tangled with a California-based vehicle.

300 block of E. Sixth St. At 1:30 p.m., authorities were summoned to assist a female who was “huffing computer cleaner.” Macintosh or PC not specified.

Thursday, April 6

Los Angeles Riverbed near the Ocean Boulevard Bridge. At 1:30 a.m., police were called about a possible body in the riverbed. When officers arrived, they located the body of 17-year-old Leslie Hernandez of Santa Monica along the waterline. As a caller indicated a vehicle had been seen leaving the area, patrol officers stopped a vehicle matching the caller’s description near the 91 Freeway. After questioning, no arrests were made. The Public Safety Dive Team and Long Beach Search & Rescue responded to the scene to search for any potential evidence. At the moment, this is being handled as a possible drug overdose.

Saturday, April 8

Between the bike path and Wal-mart. Sometime in the nighttime, a rather impressive fire broke out on city property near the fence. As there is a population of homeless that call this area home, there was the opinion that this was a homeless encampment fire.

Monday, April 10

Marina Drive, just west of Studebaker Road. At 7:55 p.m., an eastbound 2006 Buick Terraza, driven by a 39-year-old female resident of Long Beach attempted a left turn into a shopping center when it collided with a west bound 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle that was traveling at a high rate of speed. The Harley’s handlebars, front forks, and front wheel split off from the rest of the cycle and the motorcycle driver, a 25-year-old male resident of Long Beach was found lying in the street with major injuries. At the hospital, he was pronounced deceased a few hours later. He was believed to be driving under the influence of alcohol and did not have a valid motorcycle endorsement on his California driver’s license. The driver of the Buick and her 12-year-old passenger had only minor pain and were not transported.

Anaheim St. at Redondo Ave. At 8:15 p.m., a southbound car waited for a family, mother and several children to cross the east-west crosswalk, then proceeded when it was safe, or so the driver thought. He changed his mind when a male pedestrian walking the opposite direction kicked his car because he was still crossing, against the light, or so the driver claimed.

Tuesday, April 11

Palo Verde Ave. and Wardlow Rd. After a reported burglary in their town, Seal Beach cops with the help of Los Alamitos cops pursued a stolen car into Long Beach, capturing two suspects after they ran a red light and crashed into another motorist. At 10 a.m., these out-of-town cops asked for help from Long Beach Police to assist in locating a third suspect who was running away in the flood control. Within minutes, all three suspects were under arrest. But then came the matter of a traffic accident associated with the pursuit. Seal Beach then asked that cars not be moved after the dust had settled, so they could document the scene. Said a NextDoor poster whose car was struck, “I walked away from the incident with only a sprained wrist and a sore shoulder.”

Willow Street near Cherry Ave. At 4:30 p.m., at the Costco gas station parking lot, a car damaged another vehicle, the owner of which called the cops. At that point, according to a NextDoor poster, “the suspect decided to take off in his car. While doing so he hit a couple of cars on Willow. Apparently the police were arriving about the same time and they began to chase him. He hit about six or seven more cars trying to get away from the police. Westbound Willow was completely shut down from Junipero to Cherry.”

Wednesday, April 12

3400 block of Lakewood Boulevard. At 7:45 a.m. a southbound motorcycle, driven at a high rate of speed by a 27-year-old male resident of South Gate collided into a semi-truck and trailer driven by a 33-year-old male resident of Compton, who had stopped at a driveway to enter the Long Beach Airport to make a delivery. The motorcyclist apparently moved from the number three lane into the number four lane and collided with the truck. Paramedics responded and determined the driver of the motorcycle to be deceased on scene.
