Monday, February 5

700 Block of Chestnut Ave. At 11:45 p.m., in the first of a week’s worth of gunfire, a woman was shot in the upper body in critical but stable condition. Officers recovered a firearm.

Wednesday, February 7

38th Pl. & Ocean Blvd. At 12:53 a.m., a gunslinger walked into the apartment, shot a resident several times with wounds to the upper and lower body in stable condition.

Thursday, February 8

1600 block of Atlantic Ave. Two Long Beach Polytechnic High School students arrested on possessing weapons on the school’s campus at 1:04 p.m. after police found an 18-year-old boy with a BB gun, and a 15-year-old boy with a knife. Police would not confirm if they knew each other, or why they brought them to the campus.

Friday, February 9

Third St. and Temple Ave. area. At 10:47 a.m., a man impersonating the friend of her son talked his way into a private residence and raped an elderly female. On Saturday, police arrested, 42-year-old Long Beach resident Kevin Parks as he got into his vehicle in the 1300 block of Magnolia Avenue.

Saturday, February 10

Second St. and Pacific Coast Hwy. At 2:23 a.m., a man fought with two other men, one of whom shot the victim who self-transported himself and was being treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the upper body. The suspects fled the scene in a dark colored sedan. Gang detectives were notified.

Sunday, February 11

1600 block of Junipero Ave. At 6:48 p.m., a male shooter fired off shots, no injuries, just evidence.

Monday, February 12

600 block of Orange Ave. At 1:33 a.m., a dark-colored sedan approached a man and initiated an altercation, which then became a shooting with a wound to the lower body when the man began to run. Now he’s in stable condition at a hospital.

100 block of E. Pacific Coast Hwy. At 1:37 a.m., an argument between two groups, then a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the lower body; possibly gang-related.

700 block of East 6th St. At 3:19 a.m., in one of two known knifings, a man and a woman known to one another, argued, settled with stabbing the woman in a non-life-threatening way in the upper body.

Tuesday, February 13

4500 Atherton St. A man threatening to blow up a gas station at 5:15 p.m. was detained, making the fuel pumps safe once more.

Linden Ave. and First St. At 5:30 p.m., the father of 4-year-old Justin Change was making a food delivery and neglected to turn off the engine of his 2021 gray Honda Accord, when it was stolen with Justin in the back seat. Likely the perpetrator was after the car and was unaware of the child’s presence. An Amber Alert was declared, and at 9 p.m., the car was located nearby at Pine Avenue and Shoreline Drive with Justin still strapped inside, unharmed.

Wednesday, February 14

2200 block of Chestnut Ave. At 2:36 a.m., a man inside his residence was shot to his upper body.
Taken to a hospital, he later died.

400 block of W. Pacific Coast Hwy. During a 5:59 p.m. argument, both male arguers pulled out their firearms and commenced to shooting, each missing, then fled.

Thursday, February 15

1300 block of Long Beach Blvd. At 4:37 a.m., during an argument, a 35-year-old stabbed man died at the scene.

405 ramp to the 710 Freeway. At 10:40 p.m., a paint-oriented man tagged this area as only a true artist would attempt what with cars whizzing behind his behind.

Friday, February 16

Frontenac Ct. and Nardo Way. At 12:51 p.m., a suspect barricaded inside a tent refused to comply, but was finally arrested.

West 17th St. and Daisy Ave. At 5:15 p.m., a gunman carjacked a Kia, fired a shot in the air for emphasis and fled in the car, which was recovered a short time later in the area of Pine Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway, the suspect gonzo. No injuries were reported.

Tenth St. near Atlantic Ave. At 5:15 p.m., L.A. County Sheriff searched for a suspect who bailed out of the window of one of their black and whites, finally locating and arresting him a second time.

East Long Beach. At 9:30 p.m., a police pursuit of a suspected DUI truck driver that began in the City of Industry wended its lonely way through Harvey Way at Bellflower Boulevard, Del Amo to Woodruff to the 405 Freeway and an abrupt lane change north into the wilderness that is the 605 Freeway, finally crashing out on the 241 in Irvine, likely with injuries to the driver.

Saturday, February 17

20th St. and Pine Ave. At 6:47 p.m., a shooter argued with, then shot at and missed another man. No injuries.

1500 block of Seabright Ave. At 9:28 p.m., two men argued, then fought, one shot the other with non-life-threatening injuries to the upper body.

Sunday, February 18

5300 block of E. Second St. At 12:58 a.m., after an argument, 32-year-old Johnny Santos of Long Beach was shot and died at the hospital.
