Tuesday, October 1

Ocean Blvd. at Kennebec Ave. At 10:34 p.m., an eastbound 2018 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle drifted into the westbound lanes of Ocean Boulevard and struck a westbound 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse. The male rider and the female passenger were thrown from the motorcycle, coming to rest in the westbound lanes of Ocean Boulevard. The female passenger succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. Speed is believed to be a factor in this collision.

Thursday, October 3

1100 block of Elm Ave. After a 12:33 a.m. display of gunfire power, the shooter took leave, baffling the investigative process.

Anaheim Street and Cedar Ave. At 6:06 p.m., a pair of females argued, one of whom chose to respond by stabbing the other, causing a non-life-threatening wound to the upper body. Both women fled the area on foot. Finding the victim at Long Beach Boulevard and Anaheim Street, paramedics transported her to a hospital for treatment.

Friday, October 4

Del Amo Blvd. and the Los Angeles River. At 5:04 p.m., officers responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon, finding neither a crime scene nor evidence of a shooting, much less a victim or perpetrator.

700 block of W. 19th St. In a 11:56 p.m. display of gunfire, the disappearing shooter left evidence of a bang-bang-up interlude.

Willow St. near the 710 Fwy. At 1:15 a.m., hit with a fist and shot in his lower body, the victim self-transported to the hospital.

Sunday, October 6

400 block of Maine Ave. At 2:31 a.m., after a two-person fight, a third person multi-purposed a gun, striking the opponent with the gun, then firing a shot in the air, hitting no one. After causing a non-life-threatening injury to the victim’s upper body from the gun whipping, the fighter and the shooter departed.

14th Street and Locust Avenue. At 6:18 p.m., officers conducted a pedestrian stop. A search of the pedestrian yielded a firearm from a prohibited possessor, who was arrested.

Monday, October 7

2800 block of Gale Ave. An accessory dwelling unit behind the main property exploded at 11:02 a.m., destroying the unit, the main building sustaining “minor structural damage,” according to the Long Beach Fire Department. A resident in his late 30s, Manny Fabrigas was found in the wreckage of the destroyed back house with burn injuries. His wife said he had just thrown some sheets into the dryer and when he walked out of the laundry room, the blast occurred.

Spring St. and Studebaker Rd. At 1:30 p.m., a southbound motorcyclist reportedly ran a red light and crashed into a left-turning Volkswagen Taos from northbound Studebaker onto westbound Spring Street. Witnesses said the motorcycle shifted prior to hitting the VW “driven by a young girl. All air bags deployed. The driver of car appeared okay but shaken.”

Tuesday, October 8

1000 block of Gaviota Ave. At 11:43 p.m., a caller said a group of males were outside of a building when shots were fired; then they went inside the same building.

Wednesday, October 9

Woodruff Ave. near Parkcrest St. A man in a van wanted for threatening his mother, stealing her car, annoying children and punching a woman in the face before stealing her dog was stopped by authorities in the Von’s parking lot on Woodruff Avenue north of Carson Street. The man refused to exit the vehicle, so was surrounded by at least five black-and-whites and a tank-like vehicle. Deputies fired multiple rounds of non-lethal ammunition at the SUV as the ciggie-huffing suspect refused to surrender. Spike strips were laid in the front and back of the van meaning it could not possibly leave, but wait. It did leave. The man drove over a spike strip and a parking lot island into an eight-minute pursuit ending with a PIT maneuver at Woodruff Avenue below Carson Street near Heartwell Park. The man got out of his car with his pit bull and ran with the dog as deputies caught him and took him into custody. The woman’s dog was recovered by a Good Samaritan.

Thursday, October 10

3502 Orange Avenue. At 11:20 a.m., a “possible transmission main break” on a 20-inch water line caused water outages and low water pressure om the California Heights, Los Cerritos and Bixby Knolls neighborhoods. Crews made repairs to the line and nearby streets. Authorities assured residents that their toilet water was safe, except for drinking. The city supplied bottled water as supplies lasted to residents with proof of residence in the affected area, to prevent a rush of H20-seeking residents from adjacent zip codes. Service was restored at 1 p.m.

St. Louis Ave. and 8th St. At 8:44 p.m., as a man was driving by, someone with a gun peppered his vehicle, absent injuries.

Friday, October 11

Carson St. and Pioneer Blvd. It was 5 a.m. at a 7-Eleven when a woman denied the ability to purchase cups of coffee and chocolate via an EBT card smashed the drinks to the floor, creating a choco-coffee flood for the clerk to deal with.

Sunday, October 13

300 block of Elm Ave. At 6:47 a.m., a gunslinger shot away, leaving evidence of this injury-free dangerous deed.
