One of the females was transported for medical care and a 19-year-old female was cited and released. Later, the police put out a 67-word press release about the incident, the gist of which was “if you break the law at LBCC, we will arrest or refer you for college discipline.” Sixteen words, max.

200 block of Obispo. Trash day, pickup going as normal, when, at 8 a.m., a resident emerged from his domicile with a huge bag’o’trash for the bin. Problem was, his bin had already been dumped, so he went forward, only to find all those bins were emptied also. He walked up and down the street, bag in hand, with the collector, having a sense of mercy, grabbed it and tossed it into the truck. Job done.

Long Beach Airport. At 1:09 p.m., a student pilot in his 40s crashed a Robinson R-22 helicopter as it was landing at Pad 3 on the northeast part of the airport, causing the chopper to flip onto its side. Long Beach Fire responded to the incident. The only one on board, the pilot was transported to a hospital with minor injuries. Prior to the crash, a flight instructor was on the ground observing the practicing “pattern work,” a process that helps pilots determine their landing order. Unlike the pilot, the Robinson R-22 sustained substantial damage.

Studebaker Road and Pacific Coast Highway. At 3:50 p.m., a 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse, driven by a 17-year-old male resident of Huntington Beach, was traveling on southbound Pacific Coast Highway in the fast lane approaching Studebaker Road and weaving in and out of traffic as much as 60 mph.

Prior to entering the intersection, the driver of the Mitsubishi swerved his vehicle to the left to avoid a vehicle making a left turn and then swerved back to the right. Upon swerving back to the right, the Mitsubishi traveled into and across the eastbound lanes of Studebaker Road west of Pacific Coast Highway where it collided with a 2016 Toyota Corolla in the far right eastbound lane of Studebaker waiting to make a right turn onto Pacific Coast Highway. The Toyota’s driver, a 58 year-old male resident of Los Angeles, was killed. 2700 block of Bellflower Blvd. At 10:25 p.m., came reports that as many as 25 cars were racing at or near Carl’s Jr. No doubt in a rush, those two-for-the-price-of-one coupons are due to expire.
