Atlantic Ave. and Anaheim St. At 10 a.m., a late model Lexus was literally “thrown under the bus,” with apparently little damage to the bus. Not so much the Lexus, the front right fender and hood crushed. Commented a reader, this is “the age old question behind a bus ‘should I get a lane over or thread the needle?’ Or maybe stop?

West Anaheim Street near the Los Angeles River. At 1:45 p.m. a woman walking on the east side of the river was attacked by two dogs, described by a witness as pit bulls. Police were called. They used a Taser to separate the two dogs, with one of them not letting go of her arm. Once the dog was subdued, the woman was taken to the hospital with severe injuries to her arms and legs. She is expected to survive. A witness described a pair of pit bulls, police using a Taser and batons to get the dogs off her. The witness said “the authorities have only one of the dogs.” According to authorities, animal services took custody of both dogs. It wasn’t immediately clear if the dogs were stray or if their owner was nearby.

1000 block of Brenner Pl. At 5:11 p.m., authorities responded to “an obvious dead body,” after full cardiac arrest. Unknown as to circumstances or identity surrounding this death.

2000 block of San Gabriel Ave. At 6:23 p.m., as two persons fought, a 16-year-old female was stabbed in the upper body. Fire Department personnel responded and treated the victim at the scene. The suspect took flight.

Tuesday, April 14

1900 block of E. Ocean Blvd. At 11:25 a.m., reports of a decomposing possibly male body floating in the water with authorities responding with a body shield.

Eastbound 91 Fwy. west of the 710 Fwy. At 10 a.m., a box truck slammed into the sound wall on the shoulder of the 91 Freeway leaving a large hole in the wall and spilling diesel in the roadway, all of which disrupted the normal flow of traffic as diesel mixed with a hole in the wall will normally do. Rescue crews extricated a man trapped in the cab of the overturned truck and took him to the hospital for injury treatment.

Thursday, April 16

Westbound 91 Fwy. at Cherry Ave. In an 8:10 p.m. CHP pursuit that began close to Disneyland, a late model yellow Corvette convertible left the 5, taking the 91 to the 110 south, off the freeway in Torrance, losing the CHP and after a quick stop at a gas station, sped off only to crash into a SUV and a carefully planted shrub at Hawthorne Boulevard where the authorities rendered him Vetteless and cuffable at 8:30 p.m. The shrub survived, not as much as the Vette.

1800 block of Santa Fe Ave. At 10:07 p.m., a man with a non-life-threatening upper body stab wound was treated at the scene. Though the suspect fled, Luis Alberto Rodriguez, a 42-year-old resident of Long Beach. was booked for assault with a deadly weapon. Bail: $30,000.

Friday, April 17

First St. and Pacific Ave. At 2:42 p.m., as 44-year-old Arturo Fernandez of Torrance argued with a group of younger men, police arrived. During “use of force” by police, as two nearby federal air marshals with the Department of Homeland Security intervened, Fernandez allegedly pocketknife stabbed a six-year veteran officer in the forehead, wounds “that do not appear life-threatening.” Charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer and resisting an executive officer. Bail: $2.29 million.

Sunday, April 19

5200 block of Second St. At 1:55 a.m., a CSI Patrol truck pulled into the El Pollo Loco lot from doing rounds in the alleys behind the bars and restaurants. It was waiting to make a turn as the crowd consisting pretty much of young males jumped in the bed of the pickup truck and converted into an impromptu stage for about three minutes. According to a witness, “in no way would I expect the two security guard in the vehicle to step out and escalate a potential conflict.” About the choreography, “drunk ‘hoochie mamas’ jumped in back and started twerking.” The free show was over, pending a twerk-off.

1000 block of Obispo Ave. At 7:43 p.m., a man stabbed in the upper body was hospital bound.

5300 Block Atlantic Ave. At 7:50 p.m., a man shot in the lower body was hospital bound.

Tuesday, April 21

710 Fwy. and Del Amo Blvd. A 2:04 a.m. speeding motorcyclist over 130 mph on Long Beach streets and byways took the 710 the 105 Freeway for additional speeding, exiting and crashing into a parked truck near Racine and Fairlock Avenues, running away, a strategy foiled when the CHP took the suspect into custody at the 13900 block of Florine Avenue in Paramount.

Alamitos Ave. and Fourth St. At 2:55 a.m., a man with an upper body gunshot wound; not conscious but breathing.

Sunday, April 26

4800 Block Long Beach Blvd. At 1:30 a.m., a man with a non-life-threatening upper body gunshot wound was hospitalized.
