2600 block of 15th St. A 9 p.m. shooting with no victim, no shooter, and no witnesses apparently interested in being helpful.

1000 block Roswell Ave. At 10:35 p.m., an ex-boyfriend tried to get his female ex into a car. When she didn’t get in, he shot at her, missed, then drove off after taking his best shot, yet inhibiting chances of successfully reigniting a relationship.

6600 block of Obispo Ave. At 11:19 p.m., an armed suspect approached a woman, demanding her purse. Instead, she fled on foot while the suspect fired a shot at the victim, then fled the scene, but the purse stayed behind.

4600 Lakewood Blvd. At 5:50 p.m., a police car was involved in a collision with several injuries to citizens and officers. All the streets in the area were thus blocked.

Chatwin Ave. & Mezzanine St. Bothered by an incorrect warning sign that advises “no parking on Friday” when “it should be Thursday,” former city councilman Jerry Schultz said on Facebook, “this has been reported to the city numerous times over the past few years, and it has not been corrected. I reported it last month and it still has not been corrected. We have been patient long enough, so I did a temporary fix until the city decides to fix the problem. I had a ‘Thursday’ sign made and placed on top of the incorrect ‘Friday’ sign. Sometimes, we must take matters into our own hands,” even without an environmental review.

4500 block of California Ave. At 10:36 p.m., a man approached a walking woman and stabbed her in the upper and lower body. In the hospital, in stable condition.

Plymouth St. near Cedar Ave. At 12:32 p.m., 15-year-old Kevin Narvarro was shot and later died in the hospital. A seven-hour search by SWAT, armored vehicles, drones, and helicopters flooded the area searching for the suspect who had jumped from yard to yard to escape. Police also shut down portions of Long Beach Boulevard searching for the suspect. Hours later, police arrested a 15-year-old suspect in Lakewood. Transported to Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall, he is being held without bail.

2300 block of East Market St. At 2:33 a.m., two men fought in a physical way, one opting to shoot at the opponent, missing him, but managing to leave the scene.

3200 block of East Anaheim St. At 3:09 a.m., a man stabbed another man with a non-life-threatening wound to the upper body, the perp resorting to flight.

10th St. and Alamitos Ave. At 11:04 p.m., a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle that didn’t bother to stop, leaving the pedestrian unconscious and barely breathing. Taken to a hospital with major trauma, little is known of the offending hit and run vehicle last seen northbound on Alamitos.

400 block of Golden Ave. At Cesar E. Chavez Park, when a voting drop box was opened in the morning, it was discovered to have been vandalized, however voting operations were not disrupted. Election officials reminded the public that there are legal ways to express dissatisfaction with the process and then there is whatever this was.

1800 block of Harbor Ave. At 8:28 p.m., a man was stabbed and died at the hospital.

3700 block of Locust Ave. The cat belonging to a resident came home with BBs shot into its rear end. The cat owner suspects a neighbor with whom she’s had issues. Police report made, the owner said she wanted to warn people in this block that someone is using a BB gun to shoot cats.

Pacific Coast Hwy. and Pacific Ave. At 4:50 a.m., a woman walking southbound in the east crosswalk of Pacific Coast Highway against a red light was struck by a 2019 Chevy Malibu, driven by a 19-year-old resident of Long Beach. The driver of the Malibu remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. The woman died at the hospital.

Long Beach. At 10:23 p.m., a man arrived at a hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the lower body. Saying he was shot in Long Beach, he divulged nothing more specific or helpful.

6900 block of Atlantic Ave. At 6:39 p.m., a man approached another man to argue and stab him to his upper and lower body in a non-life-threatening way.

6285 Pacific Coast Hwy. Now we know why the Golden Sails shuttered. It was needed for military training; as of midnight, the armed forces invaded the abandoned grounds until 2 a.m. No UFOs or enemies reported but sounds of shots and explosions indicated whatever the danger, it was suppressed. Actually, it was a three-city training exercise, with similar scenes in the City of Industry, Irvine and Pasadena. The remains of the hotel were then returned to its intended abandonment and disuse.

6700 block of Lewis Ave. At 2:09 a.m., two men argued, one stabbed the other in his upper body in a non-life-threatening way, then took a powder as might well be expected.
