Queen Mary parking lot. At 12:10 p.m., a dispute between a cab driver and a citizen resulted in the striking of the cabbie and an attempted pushing.

Bellflower Boulevard and Beach Drive. At 3 p.m. after a blue Honda Element allegedly ran a red light and hit a gray Honda Civic, the Element flipped in the air, spun on its side and landed on a red Toyota Highlander. Three people were injured.

3400 block of Stanbridge Avenue. It was a lovely day for an Wardlow Park Easter picnic in which a noisy group was engaged in most of the day, when at 5:40 p.m., several males approached and stabbed two males in the group of picnickers. Most of the picnickers left in a hurry as the cops arrived. According to a posting in Nextdoor, the alleged assailants, three male Hispanics fled southbound in a burgundy Chevy Caprice and a Chevy Camaro SS, both very distinctive rides, which should be identifiable in a city full of late model imported cars.

2600 block of E. Anaheim Street. At 6:35 p.m., gunfire in Zaferia, no one hit, no shooter located, shots left their mark, thus a crime, thus an investigation.

L.A. River under the Sixth Street bridge. Came reports at 10 a.m. about a homeless subject firing a rifle. Police arrived, took positions, soon finding out these guns were of the BB variety shot off into the water. Citations were issued as it turns out it’s not okay to shoot off a BB gun in our fair city. Who knew?

1400 block of Walnut Avenue. At 3 a.m., police were dispatched to an apartment complex where the Long Beach Fire Department was dealing with an unresponsive 51-year-old Olympia Riley of Long Beach, who was subsequently determined deceased at the scene. Officers observed suspicious circumstances and it was determined the woman had sustained a stab wound to the lower body, thus detectives began a murder investigation.

Anaheim Road and Studebaker Road. A pursuit that began in Garden Grove, exiting the westbound 22 Freeway at 11:46 p.m., Garden Grove officers tried to pull over the driver and used a PIT maneuver and managed to tip over the car. When the driver and the passenger didn’t get out of the car as ordered, the cops fired less-lethal munitions to break the back window. That’s when they learned the pair was trapped and assisted in their removal. Both were treated for minor injuries and were taken to a hospital. The passenger was not arrested or cited, but not so for the driver, 31-year-old Christopher Guerrero of Artesia, who was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and felony evading.

200 block of Obispo Avenue. At 6 p.m., police were on scene to arrest a man named Will in a warrant when he crashed through a neighbor’s gate in an effort to escape, clambered up a woman’s roof, breaking part of it in the process and making a clean getaway. Cops told residents, if you see him, call us night or day, which is great for potential victims but not so hot for neighbors when, at 3 a.m., the cops might return to effect the arrest.

Seventh Street and Junipero Avenue. At 5 p.m. a woman confronted four young males in her parking spot in the alley. “Asked them what they were doing,” she said on Nextdoor. “They said waiting for a friend. I told them to leave and not walk through our complex. Five minutes later I’m in my kitchen and I hear someone yell ‘go go go!’ I hear people running and a car drive off. I look out the window and see a man running. A man who lives a block down was walking his dog and was choked by one of the young men I caught in my courtyard along with two more guys. The three of them robbed this man for his cell phone and wallet and slammed him against the wall. They drove off but he was able to get their license plate number. We called the cops and gave them a report.”

200 block of Obispo Avenue. At 3:30 p.m., police returned to arrest the same subject they sought two days earlier, this time in force. Neighbors in the apartment complex were evacuated while officers ordered out the suspect, whom many thought was inside the apartment. The stand-off lasted for about three hours. The cops approached the front door, then backed off and left the scene, as with the previous action, telling the neighborhood folks to call if they see him. And they did.

200 block of Obispo Avenue. At 3:17 a.m., police returned to arrest 37-year-old William Meyers, who was in a vehicle. He was taken into custody without incident, booked on a narcotics related warrant, in custody at the city jail without bail.
