Studebaker Road and Willow Street. After noon, a car that had been involved in a pursuit that began in Santa Ana, crashed in two hits-and-run, once in Santa Ana and a second time in Westminster near the Garden Grove Freeway, then drove into Long Beach, where it stopped. The driver, who was wanted on a domestic-violence warrant was arrested, for that and most likely for the damage he caused in his relentless effort at escape.

Officers tried to pull over the car late Monday morning near First and Figueroa streets in Santa Ana, but it sped off, the Santa Ana Police Department reported.

Tuesday, April 24

Tenth Street and Orange Avenue. Somebody fired off some shots at 4:30 p.m. as evidenced by an apartment window with two bullet holes in it. Sgt. Brad Johnson said “one bullet casing was located in the alley rear of the location,” but apparently precious little else, like a suspect for example.

Wednesday, April 25

Zaferia. At 1 p.m., a woman telephoned a Zaferian. “My name is Bonnie. My father is a contractor and can give you a free estimate.” The Zaferian replied, “Bonnie, what is his contractor’s license number?” Said Bonnie,” he can give it to you when he shows up.” The Zaferian replied, “I need it before he comes out.” “You’re just trying to trap me,” said Bonnie. “That’s right,” said the Zaferian. “Well, since you’re like that, I’ll call you on Saturday and every day after that,” said the now-threatening Bonnie, who has yet to called again.

Daisy Avenue and Burnett Street. At 1:15 p.m., firefighters responded to a blaze in the garage of an abandoned house, where they had responded and extinguished a similar fire about a year earlier. This time the fire was in the garage, which was packed with belongings, meaning so-called “pack rat conditions,” thus “a lot of debris,” said a fire department spokesman. In fact, these conditions caused it to be deemed it a second-alarm fire, which meant extra engines and about 50 firefighters at the scene, with black smoke coming out of the holes that firefighters had cut in the home’s roof in the previous blaze.

Sunday, April 29

Bellflower Boulevard and Atherton Street. A 2018 Ford Fusion driven by a male adult struck a 64-year-old resident of Long Beach, who was riding his bicycle in the far right southbound lane of Bellflower Blvd. approaching Atherton St. The vehicle continued through the intersection and collided with a light pole on the southwest corner of Bellflower Blvd and Atherton St. at 8 a.m. Transported to a local hospital in serious condition by paramedics, the driver was pronounced deceased. The bicyclist was also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Tuesday, May 1

Woodruff Avenue near Los Coyotes Diagonal. At 5 a.m., police used tear gas to execute a search warrant considered “high risk,” according to police. As a result, police arrested 38-year-old Long Beach resident Joshua Sam, who was booked on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance for sale, illegal possession of a firearm and illegal possession of ammunition and was held in lieu of $35,000 bail.

Wednesday, May 2

4100 Bellflower Blvd. At 9:30 a.m., a group of young men was hanging out outside a liquor store, asking entering customers to buy them cigarettes, as local schools no longer have cigarette machines.

East 10th Street near Alamitos Avenue. Starting at 1:10 p.m., armed men began holding up two stores within about 20 minutes. After the Tenth Street robbery, the second robbery occurred at Magnolia Avenue near Hill Street. In both robberies, three men, one of whom carried a gun, demanded money from the cash register before fleeing. Police are investigating whether these robberies are related.

Shoreline Drive transition to the 710 Freeway. As he was not wearing a seat belt, Miguel Vazquez, 39, was ejected from a 2009 Kia Sportage traveling at a high rate of speed, after the front-right tire went flat after the driver hit a curb, then rolled twice before landing right-side-up around 4:45 p.m.

Thursday, May 3

525 W. Eighth Street near Magnolia Avenue. Police obtained a search warrant, authorizing them to start digging on the grounds of a house, which neighbors reported was the scene of all-male sex parties. Possible human remains were found on the property, believed to be those of 31-year-old Zach Kennedy who went missing on October 22. After being told by a resident of the home that Kennedy left the house and hadn’t been seen since, his boyfriend went to the police and reported his suspicions. Forensic pathologists were trying to confirm whether it’s the Kennedy’s body. Police have yet to arrest anyone in the case.

Friday, May 4

The Promenade. At 10:30 a.m., a woman inside a liquor store began throwing bottles and otherwise causing damage to the contents without making a purchase.
