Redondo Ave. at Hill St. – Pedestrian crossing against red light is struck/killed.

5900 block Rogene St. – Home burglarized; PD says witness described suspects as two males wearing ski masks carrying large items out of residence and fled in an SUV; owners report loss of items totaling roughly $25,000.

February 2-4

1st District – Two shooting crime scenes with three victims within about a block of each other within 48 hours near Drake Park. 20-year-old man and 16-year-old girl shot/wounded in 1 a.m. hour 900 block Park Circle (Feb. 2); 16-year-old boy is shot/wounded in 7 p.m. hour 900 block Maine Ave. (Feb. 4). Fourth and fifth shooting crime scenes (incl. a homicide) since Jan. 1 in Councilwoman Zendejas’ district.

PCH at Caspian – Pedestrian crossing PCH Feb. 2 in unmarked crosswalk struck by two vehicles; one driver remains at scene and cooperates in investigation (LBPD says cell phone distraction/DUI not considered factors with this driver); the other driver leaves the scene, unoccupied vehicle later found in Lomita.

Artesia at Atlantic – Pedestrian standing in roadway outside crosswalk is struck, pushed into opposing traffic and struck again on Feb. 4.

February 5

4500 block Hazelbrook – Car break-in, items stolen.

Willow St. at Temple Ave. – Vehicle at Alpert Jewish Community Center goes through a fence in 8 a.m. hour, ends up on Willow St. and impacts a second vehicle.

February 6

5800 block Brayton Ave. – Drive-by shooting in the 9th dist. just north of South St. 17-year-old drives himself to hospital.

February 6 & 7

200 block W. Anaheim St. (near Pacific Ave.) and 2300 Pacific Ave. LBPD finds alleged illegal gambling operations, arrests multiple suspects.

February 7

1000 block E. 16th St. – Just east of Poly High, two men shot/wounded in Vice Mayor Dee Andrews’ 6th Council district; LBPD investigating as possibly gang related; it’s 6th district’s second shooting crime scene within ten days.

4200 block E. PCH (4th district) – LBPD responds in 1 a.m. hour to reports of shots fired; officers find no persons hit or evidence of shooting (casings.)

6100 block E. Los Arcos – In 6 a.m. hour, caller reports suspicious person; officers detain a 33-year-old man who runs and foot pursuit follows; police arrest suspect, DA charges him with 69 PC (resisting/obstructing an executive officer); 594a PC (vandalism under $400) and 22210 PC (possession of billy club).

February 7-9

Wrigley District – Parked vehicles’ windows smashed in. Locations include 32nd/Maine, Magnolia/Daisy at Burnett. Perp(s) appear to be looking for items to steal.

February 8

1400 block St. Louis Ave. – Man shot/wounded in 7 p.m. hour in western portion of Councilman Daryl Supernaw’s 4th Council district, LBPD says motive not immediately known. About six weeks earlier (Dec. 29) and a few blocks east (2300 block E. 14th St.) two men were shot, one of whom dies.

Magnolia at W. 3rd St. – Pedestrian in crosswalk struck/killed by charter bus.

February 9

1st District – 73-year-old hospitalized man dies of injuries allegedly inflicted by a hospitalized 37-year-old man (Jan. 31) in their shared hospital room at College Medical Center.

3200 block Tulane Ave. – Porch pirate pilfers package from a home; a third party finds package remains ripped open in nearby Wardlow Park.

February 11

Studebaker Rd. at Los Santos – CHP pursuit (70 to nearly 100 mph) ends with “PIT” (“pursuit intervention technique”) maneuver. CHP says pursuit started on 110 at Rosecrans, headed onto 405, exited on Studebaker north and wove through neighborhood streets before CHP maneuver ended it just prior to 7 a.m. Suspect is woman about 25 years old. CHP she was spotted speeding and refused to yield.
