March 24

5200 block Los Coyotes Diagonal. Six vehicles had their catalytic converters stolen overnight. LBPD report filed, investigation ongoing.

March 25

3200 block Palo Verde Ave. 23-year-old Orange County woman driving south on Palo Verde collides with at least two parked vehicles, LBPD arrests her on suspicion of DUI.

1800 block Pine Ave. (just north of PCH) man is shot/wounded

March 26

Bellflower Blvd./7th St. A 24-year-old driver loses his life in 2 a.m. hour when his vehicle (LBPD release text) “traveling at a high rate of speed” southbound on Bellflower, hits the dip in the road at 7th St., loses control, skids 225 feet, crashes into fire hydrant and shopping center sign. PD release says driver not wearing his seat belt.

March 27

1400 block Alamitos Ave. (block north of Anaheim St.), drive-by shooting, man hit while standing on the sidewalk

2200 block Linden Ave. (block west of Atlantic Ave.), evidence of a shooting/no persons hit.

March 29

1900 block Cedar Ave. Bicycle drive-by shooting, 16-year-old male hit when two male suspects approach on bikes and one shoots at him. An occupied residence also hit by the gunfire but no one inside is injured.

April 1

800 block New York St. Evidence of shooting/no person(s) hit.

April 2

2000 block Linden Ave. Man is fatally stabbed. Arrested 19-year-old suspect was at a nearby residence to visit a woman. In a release PD says that after a dispute at the residence, the suspect and the woman left, the victim armed himself with a metal pole and chased the suspect. An altercation followed between the suspect and the victim, which ended with victim’s death.

April 4

Spring St./Lomina Ave. Jerry Shultz’s South of Conant Neighborhood Watch newsletter describes an attempted vehicle break-in in the 4 a.m. hour by someone on a skateboard, trying to pry the window open. “I drove up and surprised him, followed him to Bellflower Blvd. where he met up with another person. Victim notified and he called the police.”

5700 block Orizaba, Evidence of shooting/no persons hit.

April 5

1600 block W. 19th St. Casings found; vehicle hit/no persons hit.

3100 block E. 29th St. (area of LB Red Cross immediately south of 405, NW of Willow/Redondo). Woman stabs a man; he’s treated at the scene.

April 6

Willow/Pacific. In midnight hour, driver says he was shot/wounded by a man who approached him on foot and opened fire, then fled in a vehicle.

6700 block E. Carson St. (area Heartwell Park golf course). In 10 a.m. hour LBFD and LA County Fire responded to rescue a man from a storm drain following rain a few hours earlier. They didn’t find him there but he surfaced a few blocks north in Lakewood, was taken by County crews to a hospital..

400 block Zona Court (east of Alamitos Ave., north of 4th St.)  In 5 p.m. hour LBPD officers were sent to the North Alamitos Beach neighborhood and found a 60-year-old man with multiple stab wounds.  LBFD pronounced him deceased at the scene. LBPD’s preliminary investigation indicates the victim was involved in a verbal dispute with an unknown subject(s) before officers were dispatched.

800 block of Elm Ave. In 8 p.m. hour, LBPD officers were sent to the 800 block of Elm Ave., found evidence of a shooting but no victims located.
