Get Ready for the Festival of Flight

By Jose Cervantes

Long Beach Airport (LGB) will host its annual Festival of Flight on Saturday, Oct. 25. The free community event, which celebrates Long Beach’s aviation history and connection to the local community, is scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the west end of the airfield. Thousands of attendees are expected.

Festival of Flight is free and open to the public; attendees do not require a ticket to enter the venue. Core activities planned for the day include aircraft on static display, two flyovers, live music and dedicated activities for children. Food, beverages and beer will be available for purchase. Attendees may bring food and non-alcoholic drinks, but visitor-bought alcohol is prohibited.

Location: The event will be held on the west end of the airfield. The address is LGB Airfield - Taxiway E, 3590 E. Wardlow Road, Long Beach, CA 90807. Attendees are advised not to input “Long Beach Airport” into navigation maps, as doing so may direct them to the incorrect side of the facility.

Parking and Transportation: Limited free parking will be available near the event entrance at the corner of East Wardlow Road and Globemaster Way. This parking lot opens at 8 a.m.

Overflow parking will be provided at 4901 Airport Plaza Drive, Long Beach, CA 90815. Entry for this overflow lot is on Clark Avenue. Complimentary shuttle service will transport guests from the overflow lot to the event.

Organizers encourage guests to use alternative transportation, such as cycling, public transit, carpooling, or ride-sharing. Free valet bike parking will be available near the entrance.

Entry Rules and Restrictions: Attendees should be prepared to be outdoors, rain or shine, and are advised to bring water, sunscreen and wear suitable shoes.

  • Bags will be subject to search upon entry.
  • Coolers will not be allowed.
  • Items listed on the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) prohibited items list will not be allowed at the festival.
  • Service animals are permitted, but pets are not. Organizers note that the airfield pavement may become too hot to walk a dog safely.

Further updates on the specific aircraft displays scheduled for the Festival of Flight 2025 will be announced later. The Long Beach Airport serves as a travel resource for the city.
