Helen Borgers Passes Away

Steve Propes

Longtime KKJZ jazz disc jockey and artistic director of the non-profit Long Beach Shakespeare Company, Helen Borgers died at age 60, on Sunday, Nov. 12, about two weeks after surgery and a two-month stay in the intensive care unit of Long Beach Memorial Hospital.

On the same day, Helen's family issued a statement on her Facebook page. "Helen, the woman who inspired and enriched the lives of thousands of people in art, literature, music, theatre and so much more, who followed her passion in spite of what anyone thought, took her last breath today, at high noon, after a long, brave fight with the many health issues she faced. We will soon share more information about a celebration of Helen's life."
