Player of the Week: Hailey Harward, Women’s Volleyball – Sophomore Hailey Harward led the Beach with 15 kills on a career-best .438 hitting in a 3-1 win over CSUN Saturday. Harward also had two aces, eight digs and three solo roofs on the night as LBSU finished the season on a three-match winning streak.  

 

 

Women’s Volleyball (10-19, 7-9 Big West)

Won vs. CSUN, 3-1

* The Beach said farewell to its two departing seniors with a comeback 3-1 win over CSUN. The Beach ended the season with three straight wins, including four straight victories at home.

Men’s Basketball (2-1)

 

Won vs. San Francisco State, 95-70

Lost at Oregon State, 89-81

* Bryan Alberts led the team in scoring in both games, setting consecutive career-highs with 18 points against SFSU and 19 on the road at Oregon State. 

 

Women’s Basketball (0-3)
Lost vs. Loyola Marymount, 84-69

* The Beach had four double figure scorers in the loss against LMU as freshman Naomi Hunt led the way with 17 points and eight rebounds. Rounding out the quartet of double figure scorers were Ma’Qhi Berry (16 points), Jessica Gertz (14 points) and Emmi Merriweather (13 points).

 

No. 6 Men’s Water Polo (15-12, 3-2 Golden Coast)

Lost vs. No. 7 UC Irvine, 9-8

Won vs. No. 10 Pepperdine, 10-9

* After a heartbreaking loss in the semifinals of the GCC Tournament against UC Irvine Saturday, the Beach bounced back to defeat Pepperdine in the third-place game Sunday to close out the season. Redshirt sophomore Austin Stewart netted the game winner in a sudden death period when he netted the game-winner on a penalty shot.
