Medical Center Hosts Holiday Celebration

The rain held off long enough recently for Dignity Health - St. Mary Medical Center to host more than 100 families at the Annual Helping Hands event, a holiday celebration for our community most in need. Helping Hands invites select families from some of the city’s Title 1 schools to have a truly “Merry Christmas.” 

 

Each family visited with Sparky, from the Long Beach Fire Department, took pictures with Santa in his workshop, and enjoyed holiday craft projects and light refreshments.

 

Sister Celeste Trahan, vice president of mission integration shared, “For some of these deserving children, the St. Mary festivities are the only holiday celebration these families will enjoy and the only presents they will receive. 

 

With the generosity of the hospital staff and board members, as well as this year’s community partner, the Port of Long Beach, the medical center was able to ensure families received food, clothing, backpacks, toys and more.”
