Merry Christmas

By Kirt Ramirez

JEFF AND ANN HABERMAN stand amidst their “Holiday Magic” display at their home on the corner of Wardlow Road and Chatwin Avenue, just east of Bellflower Boulevard. The high-tech show features over 100 Disney characters, more than 40,000 light pixels able to create 16.7 million different colors, all sequenced to music with fog machines, snow machines, bubble machines and water fountains. Run by 22 computers, the event has drawn crowds for 16 years now. Jeff, a retired controls engineer and part-time musician, said it takes him and his wife, Ann, who worked for Disney for 45 years, a month to set up the Halloween spectacle, then one month to transition to Christmas. “We work hard to make the house look like a traditional display, hiding the high-tech components,” Jeff said. The lights go out Jan. 3.
