New Transportattion Service Launched by Cambrian

A new transportation service is making its way to Cambrian Homecare. The GoCare Hospital Aftercare program is set to provide a caregiver along with a transportation vehicle that can meet a client once they are discharged from a hospital.

Cambrian Transportation Executive Brad Wingers said, “The major advantage of the whole program is if a client or a family member called us at 3 p.m. today we could have a GoCare van at the facility or where the client needed in about an hour and, typically, such services would require at least 12 hours advanced scheduling, so the biggest benefit of our transportation program is it’s immediate and on-demand.”

The Hospital Aftercare tier joins four other options that are currently offered to Cambrian clients: two are for ambulatory riders, one for wheelchair-bound riders and one for gurney-bound riders. This new service offers ride solutions for clients upon request or as scheduled on a regular basis.

“We have a lot of new interest in our GoCare Hospital Aftercare tier,” said Wingers. “The caregiver element is added to assist the person, make sure they get in their home OK, maybe prepare a meal if they haven’t been at home for several days, gather newspapers that may have been collecting, make sure they get assistance into bed, help them use the facilities. It’s combining transportation with the aftercare program and that’s going to be the next big wave of programs that we’re getting out there to the public.”

The right caregiver will be chosen for the right client by Cambrian’s front office based on background information provided by the client or a third-party facility. However, it is possible to change caregivers if necessary.

“Sometimes the match just isn’t right the first time or a lot of times it does depend on the caregivers ability. They may be available today to help with the client, but their schedule may already be booked for tomorrow with another client, so we have to go back and find another caregiver,” said Wingers.

Cambrian’s caregivers endure extensive training and are certified in giving CPR, hospice care and aid for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. According to the company website, “Cambrian has developed a training module to address this disease assisting the caregiver to be alert and responsive to signs and symptoms as well as ways to address them in home.”

The caregivers with the Hospital Aftercare program offer services for adults and seniors, developmentally disabled, injured workers and veterans.

Cambrian has facilities throughout Los Angeles and Orange County, as well as Sun City and Victorville, covering the entire Southern California area.

“Our Go Care program also supports that whole territory so there’s a lot of additional value when we have that program married with our caregiver program…Wherever our clients need us for caregiving services, we can take the service to them,” said Wingers.
