November Traffic Fatality Arrest

Detectives have arrested the suspect responsible for the Nov. 2, 2025 traffic collision, which resulted in the death of 19-year-old Grace Edwards.

Through their investigation, Collision Investigation detectives identified the driver as 40-year-old Desean Edwards. On May 5, 2026, detectives arrested Edwards in the city of Long Beach. He was booked for vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence. Bail was set at $75,000.

Collision Investigation detectives are investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred on Nov. 2, 2025, which later resulted in the death of a female adult.

On Nov. 2 at approximately 3:55 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 2200 block of Bellflower Boulevard regarding a traffic collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian. Upon arrival, officers located a female adult pedestrian lying in a parking lot with injuries to the upper body.

Long Beach Fire Department personnel rendered medical aid to the pedestrian and transported her to a local hospital in critical condition.

The preliminary investigation indicates the pedestrian was walking in a parking lot in the 2200 block of Bellflower Boulevard when she was struck by a 2015 Lexus IS250, driven by a 39-year-old resident of Long Beach, as it exited a parking stall. The driver remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.

On Nov. 6, 2025, detectives were notified that the pedestrian had succumbed to her injuries on Nov. 5, 2025.

The decedent was identified as Grace Edwards, a 19-year-old resident of Long Beach.

At this time, distracted driving is believed to be a contributing factor in the collision.
