Phone Scams

Your May 24 article left out a few things that your readers should know about. The first thing is that, if there are a whole series of numbers and letters across the top of the screen from the caller, it is either a call from a scammer or a commercial.

The second thing is, if you answer the call and hear a beep, it will again be either a scammer or a commercial. You should either immediately hang up or, number three, if you answer the call and hear the beep, don’t say ANYTHING. Just leave the line open until you hear a busy signal. Then hang up. It won’t take long. Option number three is the best one because, when you say nothing and let the line go to the busy signal, it cuts your phone number off of the callers list and you will no longer receive calls from that number.
