A Scandal Properly and Transparently Handled

Dear Mayor Garcia,

The LAPD story linked below is an outstanding example of a transparent, proactive police administration – and city – that does not exist in Long Beach. It is my sincere wish that the historic conceal, obfuscate and deny pattern of governance in our city can one day be reformed. But it will not happen unless you and those that we elect step up, stop the cover-ups, let the light shine in and go to work doing what is right for our community rather than what is protective cover for the continuing city hall failures of honesty, integrity and transparency.

We all know how a like circumstance would be handled in our city. And that is not something to point to with pride.

Your silence – and that from those responsible for the detritus the continues to float to the surface in Long Beach – is deafening.

It's time to step up.
