Sunset Designers & Builders Celebrates 70 Years Elevating Outdoor Living

Sunset Designers & Builders of Los Alamitos is celebrating its 70th year of business with an updated look and an ongoing commitment to cutting edge design and service.

To share the new look, Sunset customers in Rossmoor are helping to make a splash by featuring the company’s 2’ x 2’ diamond shaped job signs that feature the new branding in their front yard for two weeks. There are more than 30 signs being showcased throughout the neighborhood.

“I hate to admit this, but it seems like the company just turned 50,” said John Zahn, owner and designer of Sunset Designers & Builders. He joined his father in the company when he was still in college. “The company started in 1948 as a fence and backyard improvement company in Long Beach. We’ve grown into being a company that helps people maximize their backyards by treating the space like an extra room of their home.”

Zahn explained that families can entertain or relax in their backyards better if they are designed with their intended activities in mind from the beginning.

Zahn selected the new branding, which features a “Mad Men” like pool scene, to capture the essence of the company’s history and the cool sophistication Sunset delivers today. “Our customers have really fallen in love with our elevated pools. We literally raise the swim line and create new seating and entertaining options,” Zahn said. “In fact, our new tagline is all about this pool design – Elevate Your Outdoor Living! It explains Sunset on many levels.”
